On hard floors, how is this any different than traditional cleaner? Hard floors should have no penetration of pet stains or odors... Real question.
This is not a gimmick. This an enzymatic cleaner that uses bacteria to neutralize urine and other biological substances (vomit, feces). I have a cat prone to UTIs and he has peed on furniture and rugs—this brands Urine Destroyer product that uses the same enzymatic action and other similar products are the only thing that truly eliminates the smell, and I have tried everything—citrus oil, vinegar, carpet cleaner, etc.

Not all hardwood is heavily varnished and waterproof. In fact, no real hardwood is waterproof. They may be water resistant but none are waterproof, and hardwood comes in many finishes, making some less resistant than others. It's like a coffee table—if you leave a glass with ice water on it long enough, The condensation is going to permeate the wood and leave a ring on your table.

Having any pet, you don't know it's whereabouts every second of the day or what it's doing. If there is an accident somewhere from an elderly, ill, or baby animal, you may not find it for hours depending on where it is and where you are i.e. at work, leaving adequate time for it to permeate the floor.

The real question is how this "hardwood" differs from the urine destroyer version of this product. If anything, that is the gimmick.

It's a gimmick to sell carpet then you also need hard floor version lol many think like that so buy both plus new cut corners formula is so weaker...

Hard floors like concrete are organic, just like cat pee. It you let urine stand long enough, it will penetrate or absorb into the concrete and thats when you have trouble trying to get it out.

The bigger question here is why is someone letting urine stand that long? Maybe it's in a basement where a pet might urinate (like during a storm) and it goes unnoticed for a couple of days or a week?

I've seen issues where someone has laid a carpet over a terrazzo floor and their pet will urinate on the carpet, trapping that urine against the terrazzo and when the carpet was finally removed years later, the stains were so deep the terrazzo was ruined.
Im sure it's worse for wood.

Imo it's just a gimmick. Probably same formula with a different label. Label says "protects hard floor finish" but original formula says "safe for hard floors".

Likely so, I have trouble even figuring out if this stuff does anything.. I notice no difference than using anything else to clean up..

I don't know about the riveting hard floors debate but the regular version of this stuff is fantastic

Residual odors are broken down by the enzymes in this product vs a cleaner which doesn't necessarily neutralize them.

We got a puppy a few months back and have been using the regular version on our engineered hardwood. Works fine so far so I don't see the point in this.
