Feelings are greater than facts in today's society, I don't think knowing anything really matters anymore. #idiocracy

I read it as well but bought it anyway. Reason being, it's $10, and, for the intended age range, smaller blurbs aren't so bad. Around age 9 or 10, I found an old set of encyclopedias at our house and really got into reading them, but I was really far along on the nerd spectrum. Our daughter is headed in that direction, so this would be a good jumping-off point for her. Our son, who is just finishing first grade, isn't as strong a reader, but he's getting better, so shorter blurbs could help him practice without getting overwhelmed.

As for the perceived bias by the reviewer, I don't know the reviewer's bias, either, so I'll make up my own mind after I receive the book. And, again, it's only $10.
Complaining about Kaepernick makes it quite clear what the reviewer's bias is. Knowing someone like that doesn't like it is a good sign that it's awesomeWink

The one I ordered arrived today, and, although I haven't had much time with it, I did skim the article on communism and the one on the Cuban revolution. Both are very matter of fact, basic articles geared toward kids. They really don't provide commentary but just describe what happened. So yeah, I guess the reviewer was upset because the articles didn't criticize. I don't know if his bias was showing or if he was expecting more detail then a book like this, that provides a 40,000 foot view of the entire universe in under 500 pages, can reasonably offer, but I have no problem with it.

And yeah, the fact that he had to bring up Colin Kaepernick says more than anything else about where he's coming from. And, regarding Fidel Castro, the book did point out that he overthrew the dictator Batista and then ruled as a dictator himself. So he loses more points in my book for missing that.
