OK, what are these good for? In case of emergency I'm guessing where communication is knocked out?

(Asking from a city guy perspective)

Wish I can purchase in app for pickup or delivery. I hate these Brickseek deals. 95% of the time the item is not in stock even though BS says there are 6+.
why do you even use it? its not an official walmart inventory checker. so no pickup or delivery app.

he should have known that these are for communication, not for emergency.

I don't use it. I know one cannot purchase thru BS, but you can use the Walmart link to the product and it doesn't allow purchase online, only in store.

its not very useful then because most of the time noone can find the item despite what the app said.

There is an app for that! Create a private channel and you're set.

Another couple of uses:
-theme parks, city parks, events, etc where some of your party may separate but still be relatively close
-communicating between multiple cars traveling together. I know someone is going to say "why not use a cell phone" but when a quick turn is needed, that 45-60 seconds to dial / connect is WAY too long.

I use them frequently when attending to my 5 acres of grass, I'd much rather damage a 2 way radio than my cell phone.
Another use case...while in a cruise with family and friends. No cell signal in the middle of the ocean. I don't use this brand though...I use Baofeng units and they work great!

Some people get lucky and I have been able to replicate the deals once in a while. I don't go out of my way to score a BS deal anymore. Learned the hard way lol. But I'm happy to read that several SD'ers have been able to find the walkies

These are 0.5 Watts with a stubby antenna. Not even in space would these have a 16 mile range.
less than 0.5 watts according to fcc spec sheet.

If you read the specs on these radios, they are hitting repeaters, on FRS you don't need a license, but on the GMRS side you do
Nope, they don't access GMRS repeaters. They do GMRS simplex on channels 15-22.
