Honestly, I'm not sure what they meant by that. I bought this last time it was on sale and it works great. Admittedly, the kids are the ones that use it though.
The only thing that feels off about it for me is that it's lighter than air. Size and comfort are fine for me, just the weight that's awkward.

Agreed - it feel...flimsy? not that it's going to break, but there's no heft to it. I really just got it because I like Pikachu Stick Out Tongue

Why doesn't the Switch support analog triggers at all? I understand why the Joy-Cons don't have them, but why the Pro and all third-party ones too?

This one is okay in quality, works with little to none problem on my switch, vibrator is a bit underpowered. It used to be 12.50 on Black Friday at Best Buy.

Even if they did most games wouldn't support the hardware. You develop your software around your hardware, for instance it's pretty easy to get a Xbox or PS controller to work on the Switch with a dongle, but the analog triggers don't function as such. Only game I know that works with analog triggers is Smash Bros, mainly because it's designed with the GameCube controllers in mind, and competitive play.

The reason why is probably just because the Joy-Cons don't have analog. Meaning that the base hardware and the way the majority of people will interact with the system and game won't have access to analog triggers, so the smart thing is to develop around that. That way they eliminate any potential issues as far as hardware and software compatibility.

I have 2 Power A wireless controllers for Switch. Not the best build quality but they have been working fine as secondary controllers for about 2 years.

Can't speak for this controller, but I bought a wireless one on Amazon for $12 that is a clone of the $20-$30 controllers (I also bought a $20 one to compare). Works great, buttons aren't hard to press, and the joy sticks feel solid. I've only had it for about a week so I can't speak for longevity or durability, but it is definitely more comfortable in my hands for when I'm thrashing my GF in Mario Kart.

Do you know if it works for Steam games on a Mac? Can't find anything on the product page.

This specific line of PowerAs is a no-brainer at this price point. Bought the lot back when they were 12.50, but certainly worth 15.00. And I know it's SD blasphemy, but I dare say, if you simply just need a controller, no rumble, no motion, just sticks and buttons, it's probably even worth it at full retail. Played through Super Mario 3D World (Champion's Road and all) almost exclusively with the Mario Vintage SKU. Only switched to SN30 Pro+ when I absolutely needed motion to do the touch stuff on certain levels.

Going to need a little more info as to why you feel that way, chief.

Bought one during Christmas for $12.50. The cord is long and just created a trip hazard.
