Worth a return and reorder?
Slickdeal victory celebration post!
I had been on the fence for about two months but finally decided to pull the trigger. I almost bought it earlier this week and I'm so glad I didn't since it's $25 cheaper for me now. It's probably all my humble GTX 1050 (not even a TI) video card could handle anyway.
You can also get 12% cash rewards back (today only I think) from a certain cash back and coupon codes site that will helps me buy things at not retail prices. I also ordered the Rachel Ray Boat Tote [officedepot.com] cooler bag for grocery shopping, just enter code 70631808 at check out or get another freebie from the coupon center. [officedepot.com]
So with my Chase Freedom 1% cash back, if I get the 12% rewards my total cost will be:
$189.99 * 1.075 (high 7.5% sales tax area, suxxors) = $204.24. $204.24 - 2.04 (Chase cash back) and -$22.80 (12% RMN rewards) = $179.40. Assuming that cooler bag has a $5 value to me, I'd say my final round trip cost for the monitor is $175.
I would have been extremely skeptical about a rewards website like RMN in the past, but over the last two years we've gotten some actual cash back on things, even allowing us to get a 65" Hisense TV selling for $300 from Best Buy at the 2019 BF sale for about $275 after taxes round trip delivered to my living room courtesy of 10% rewards and I a 5% cash back from my Chase card. It takes several weeks but eventually you get money in your rewards account which you can then transfer to PayPal.
Office Depot must have tons of these monitors laying around in stock somewhere since the $200 + free gift deal seems to come around about once a month or so. This model seems to be a special version for Office Depot as (based on reviews at Office Depot) it reportedly doesn't have height adjustment and doesn't come with a display port cable like the regular retail version does, but at this price it's no big deal.
Now the issue for me is whether nVidia ever fixed its updated drivers so that an updated driver doesn't mess up my Sins of a Solar Empire game (a known problem for people) as I need an updated driver to use GSync.
