Thanks got 2 and bought some other items I was going to get at Walmart anyways to get free shipping. Getting it for my kids bikes. Just wanted it as a deterrent from someone just walking off with their bikes...
Why can't they make a U-lock that throws out a painful stun gun zap at whoever tries to mess with it? Seems like a more effective solution for thieves.

I subscribe to a YouTube channel called "Accountant Escape Artist" and he chewed through this in 17 seconds. He's the best of all the professionals who do lock picking on the side.
I guarantee that the lock picking lawyer will have this picked under 15 seconds
To be fair, he's able to pick almost any lock in about 5 seconds. For the Kryptonite New York, he was able to pick that really fast. And that's considered one of the most secure and expensive locks for the reasonable consumer. In my area of the bigger threat is someone with a bolt cutter, not a sophisticated lockpicker.

I've seen a number of videos of the guys who cut the bikes in half and tape them back together and then leave them out. The thieves ride off with them only to have them break in half sending the thief tumbling.

Would be a wonderful society if we were legally allowed to protect our property against thieves with claymore or directed fragmentation traps. Larceny crime would plummet.

There are very few locks that are designed for more than to keep the opportunist from taking. For $5, this looks like a pretty good deal.
Is this the U lock that can be opened with the shell of a BIC pen?
