You don't have to return the old one. They only do price adjustments within 30 days but If your local store still has it in stock you can rebuy it and return the new one at the old price. CS may even do it without having to bring the TV to the front. My store helped me out when I did this with a large rolling toolbox. It was after 30 days so I had to repurchase it and return at the old price but the toolbox was so big and heavy they didn't make me roll it up to the checkout. They just took care of the transaction at the return/CS area. If your store still has it in stock it's worth a try.

They don't, I had something similar happen with a Roomba. I ended up buying another one at the sale price and returning one using the first receipt.

Crazy part is that the 55" can only be found for $999 when in stock. $300 more for a 75".

If it's a big item and they have it in stock, it's easier to walk in, buy a new one, roll it over to returns and return it with your original receipt. Assuming it was bought less than 90 days ago. That way you don't have to take it off your wall and haul it back. Also, one less used tv for Costco to return to vendor.
