The price is fine, but this tool leaves a lot to be desired. It has an outrageous amount of vibration compared to the Bosch or Makita offerings which are similar price. Unless you are in the Milwaukee platform, I'd look elsewhere

Is this true for both this unit and the fuel version? I am heavily invested into the M18 ecosystem and need a multi-tool.

I am a Makita guy but when it came time for a multi-tool I went with DeWalt. Imo it's the best tool DeWalt makes.

The Fuel is much better with a brushless motor. The normal M18 does have quite a lot of vibration.

This multi tool is junk compared to new Fuel version which I believe came out last year. It's night and day difference. I would stay away and just pay a bit more to get Fuel one which is one of the best multi tools on market currently. Fuel has free floating head for minimal vibrations, 4 degrees of oscillation which means it cuts and plunges insanely fast. Also has an auto mode, starts out at very low rpms so you can line up your cut, and once you start cutting, ramps up the speed. I have the little brother of M18 fuel, the m12 fuel, and even though they gimped it a bit by giving it slightly lesser degree of movement and removing auto feature, I'm still extremely pleased with it.

M12 is nearly as good but my theory is they just couldn't let their compact line match their premium m18 Fuel line so I think they intentionally made it worse. 3.9 vs 4.2 degree angle of oscillation, and no auto ramp up feature. That said, I still bought m12 version for slightly smaller and comfortable size. Compared to dewalt, these are humongous, it's like wielding a grinder, that's why I prefer the smaller one. Even gimped, that tool is a beast and absolutely destroys my DeWalt 20V XR multi tool which is a premium top of the line multi tool DeWalt makes. My guess is it cuts about twice as fast (dewalt is only 1.6 degrees). DeWalt also vibrates like a truck compared to these. If you decide to go for little fuel though, make sure you have at least a 4.0ah battery. Anything smaller and it will eat through them in no time.
