Volt is their hybrid, electric and internal combustion. Bolt is plug in EV only for power.

Bolt is not eligible for the $7500 Federal Tax Credit anymore due to GM hitting the 200,000 vehicle threshold. There are a couple of proposals floating around including $7,000 credit for manufacturers over the prior cap and up to $12,500 for US union produced EVs (which the Bolt would qualify for).

Basically the support falls on party lines, unless it can be worked into a reconciliation bill or they blow the filibuster it's not happening.

Edit: just for clarity, didn't want to get the politics argument going on this more just a realistic view of whether the credit will get added to make this a much better deal.

Stopped at my 'authorized' dealer for Costco.
2021 hatchback with a few amenities...
(Don't have a relative/friend that works for GM.. would have saved me $15-20/month)

Lease 30k, $1300 down (first month + all taxes and fees) with all incentives available inclui Costco)

$325/ month.

Uhh...no
Uh....no.

Can you purchase from any Chevy dealer to get this incentive or do you have to make the purchase at a participating Costco car buying dealer (I don't have any near me).

I take that you prefer a 10,000 PSI tank sitting right next to you in a car? A 100 PSI air tank that explodes in a garage can do a lot of damage. Imagine what happens when a 10,000 PSI tank explodes. And you're sitting right next to it.

what are some good OTD prices not including taxes (to be consistent) that one should be aiming for?

Im looking at a brand new 2021 for 22,900 not including TT&L before costco rebate

It'll depend on some factors like how fast you'll drive. Highway speeds will drain the battery faster. Also cold weather will give you less range. In ideal conditions this might actually make that trip but generally it would be best to stop about 3/4 the way there and then top up for 30-45 minutes. Once you go past 70% battery it slows down the charging.

On a dc fast charger, it will charge from 0-80% in about 1 hour. It slowly starts stepping down the charge rate for safety after 50%. I think you can get to 50% in like 30 mins.

Most people from what I've seen do not dc fast charge on the road all the way to 100% because of the stepping down, ie that last 20% takes 30 mins or more so it isn't worth it.

If you can charge at the other end (ie at your parents' house) even at 120V, I would do it like this:

Start full at your house
Run it down to around 20%
Stop at a DC fast charger and charge back up to 50% (should be like 20-25 mins maybe?)
Get to your parents' house

Start charging immediately at 120V. If your parents have newer wiring, you can do 120V 12A and that recharges at a rate of approx 6mi/hour... 120V 8A charges at approx 4mi/hr.

To get to 100% full @12A from 0 takes 43ish hours (but you won't be starting from 0... you should actually be starting at around 20% if your distance is correct) , so you're really looking at like 35 hours. At 8A it takes 65 hours to go from 0-100... but you are looking at like 52 hours.

Bear in mind these are rough numbers under fairly normal conditions. Terrain, how much you use the AC or heat, and how aggressively you drive all play a factor in the numbers going slightly up or down.

Depends on the options…about 6 months ago I was at 25.6k otd with the LT with the two convenience packages. Today a dealer is advertising that at 28.6k right now. 2022 is right around the corner but that also means these are down to the last available. So depending on the demand in your area is how much they'll work with you. I'd say between 19k and 25k depending on which options for the LT and probably 28k or less for the premium would be a nice point to aim for.

That's a pretty good deal especially for now since the firesale in March/April if it's before the $3000 from Costco. That's about as good as most deals I saw in March (although I think I did see a SMALL handful of folks who got their LTS in the 19's after Costco)

I think the inventories are lower, so dealers are less willing to wheel and deal right now.

I was hoping they would extend this but I don't know how many 2021 Bolt's are going to be out there or if the 2022 Bolt's will be getting as good a pricing seeing as it's the redesigned/facelifted model that is just now coming out (although the guts are largely still the same). My Bolt lease is up in Oct but seriously if I could get a $5k one pay or less I would get one early Big Grin

Oh wait, this is only on 20/21 Bolts. Good luck finding some of those!

Ya, because the hydrogen from natural gas (which is largely where they produce it) is soooooo "sustainable". You're using the word "sustainable" like the people who drive a Suburban 20 miles each way to buy some strawberries from a "local" farm like to use the word sustainable...

That doesn't mean hydrogen may not necessarily have a part in our future somehow but for most people it would be stupid to use renewable energy to make hydrogen from water, pressurize it, pump it, and then carry it around in your vehicle for use when you can use that exact same energy to just fill up your battery. It's kind of odd that you bring up Europe and Scandinavia where BEVs/PHEVs are booming and FCEVs are a rounding error.

Well, that's if you believe in reality and aren't putting all your hopes and dreams on some magical breakthrough that will make hydrogen abundant, cheap, and easy to store laugh out loud
