Volt is their hybrid, electric and internal combustion. Bolt is plug in EV only for power.

Bolt is not eligible for the $7500 Federal Tax Credit anymore due to GM hitting the 200,000 vehicle threshold. There are a couple of proposals floating around including $7,000 credit for manufacturers over the prior cap and up to $12,500 for US union produced EVs (which the Bolt would qualify for).

Basically the support falls on party lines, unless it can be worked into a reconciliation bill or they blow the filibuster it's not happening.

Edit: just for clarity, didn't want to get the politics argument going on this more just a realistic view of whether the credit will get added to make this a much better deal.

Stopped at my 'authorized' dealer for Costco.
2021 hatchback with a few amenities...
(Don't have a relative/friend that works for GM.. would have saved me $15-20/month)

Lease 30k, $1300 down (first month + all taxes and fees) with all incentives available inclui Costco)

$325/ month.

Uhh...no
Uh....no.

Leased a 2020 Bolt Premier from Huffiness Chevrolet in the DFW area in March. Initially $189 down and $189 a month. 36 months/10k. I then cancelled a crappy warranty they said they were "paying for" which lowered my effective payment to $165 a month.

The Bolt is a great EV. I've had a LEAF, I3, Smart ED, and Tesla Model X. Currently have a 3 Performance and Y AWD.

Love the Bolt just as much as our Teslas. If you need a new car the Bolt can easily be a second car to a gas car for first time EV drivers.
Can you DM me the sales man you used and any details? I live in Houston but could drive up for that deal...

I got in on the last Costco deal at the end of March. I got a 2020 Premier. I got a pretty good deal, but YMMV due to local incentives and how willing your dealer is to negotiate. I accidentally looked like a genius because the gas shortage hit NC pretty shortly thereafter. 😂

If you can tolerate the fact that it's kinda dippy looking (my wife makes fun of it 😂) it is a decent small hatchback that happens to be an EV with decent range. I have a weekend car also, but the Bolt IMO is a great little commuter car that can easily do short-medium road trips with little trouble. Long road trips may be an issue because even the DC fast charging ain't that fast... the newer generation EV's charge way faster. But I think that they are doable, you just have to be more patient and make more and longer stops to "refuel".

Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase for the price.
I am in NC, can you share the dealer details and the deal to see if I can get on the same. Looking for a commuter EV that is not expensive, open to lease as well.

You realize gas cars have large tanks full of flammable liquids and occasionally catch on fire, right?

Wait until July when the $5,000 rebate from the state of New Jersey is scheduled to return. Costco rebate expires at the beginning of August so you should be able to make something happen then. No sense in leaving that 5 grand on the table if you can wait.
Thanks for the info. I can wait.

People who are comparing these to Tesla, BMW, Audi, or really any of the other electric vehicles, have never driven one of these. I bought a 2020 Premier for 23k last year as a company vehicle and it has not held up well in the 8k miles I used it.

The driving experience is dull, the seats are flat and uncomfortable, it is very slow and top heavy, the charging rate sucks, the tech sucks, the whole interior is cheap and noisy.

This is nothing like a model 3. This is closer to an electric golf cart than a Tesla. Without the tax incentive, buy a mustang mach E for 35k after tax incentive.

And gm incentives magically went down to $1000 for the 2020/2021. No matter what, bolts in my area have been the same price for the last 90 days. They just shuffle the cups around. Now all the dealers that had dealer discounts of $2000-3000, are back to full retail...

If anyone locates a great deal in SoCal, can someone DM me? While I am looking for the lowest price (meaning I don't care what year/trim) I noticed Chevy also has a "Home Charging on Us" program if you get a 2022 EV: https://www.chevrolet.com/index/v...modal.html

Its like a crappier buick encore. it should never be compared to cars that are 2-3x the sale price. If you are not saving $1500 a year on gas, its not worth it.

Do you need to have been a Costco member for a certain amount of time?

Edit nvm, I see it now. Since May 31st...ugh was waiting till December to sign up because these seem to only activate at the beginning of the year.

Was there hybrid. It was discontinued and the tech is being turned into a Cadillac. Shame. I love my Volt and was waiting for wireless airplay before trading it in. Which, by the way, Chevy is adding to the 2022 Bolt.

Yea starting 2019.5 They started making LG packs in Michigan vs Korea. And all the 2017-2019 got "enhanced battery monitoring firmware". So if your buddy is still getting the buy back, god speed, most started getting canceled last week because the recall firmware fix was pushed out so no requirement for buybacks.

Anyone know if your name is tied to the certificate they issue? Like if my parents have a Costco membership, can I get them issued the certificate and then use it myself?
