Basically the support falls on party lines, unless it can be worked into a reconciliation bill or they blow the filibuster it's not happening.
Edit: just for clarity, didn't want to get the politics argument going on this more just a realistic view of whether the credit will get added to make this a much better deal.

The deal was much better in March with the $2,000 rebate for CA residents. Now the $2,000 rebate funding has run out and only limited to low income applicants.
For Bolt, without AC and all local with little hill, I was able to get 5.5miles per KWH. It does not to be babied. Just light foot and no AC got this number easily . For average use, 3.5-4miles per KWH is a good estimate.
So yea, it's pretty case by case. I'd like to go full EV, but not until infrastructure and fast charging is built out. I've put in 57k in 2yrs with my PHEV that is a combo of commute and road trips. Would definitely be a less pleasant experience with a full EV.
Hell, even 100mi commute ONE WAY is doable in the Bolt...but you might have to baby it or top it off at work during the winter.
I've only had my Bolt since end of March, and I only recently starting commuting to work again (I was working from home during the pandemic). I have a 30mile roundtrip commute. I can literally commute to work the whole week and charge over the weekend even @ 120V. I'm not even charging to 100% for my commute...I basically am keeping the battery between 20 and 80%. I expect it to change some during the winter, but I THINK it can still be done.
LOL. As has been stated numerous times before in this thread, the Bolt is around 20-25K depending on location and options, not 37K.

After that, you save every time using it since electricity is cheaper than gas.
It made the decision very easy in the end.
The only other option I may have considered was one of those Audi A6's for $30K new. Congrats to those who got one.
If youre looking at a $40000 MSRP you should pay no more than $25000 for that example. In Colorado there is an additional $2500 off at point of sale, so no more than $22500 paid for a $40k MSRP if the dealer is truly honoring this deal.
Colorado dealers in are shit and they will absolutely try to pocket that 2500 state rebate that REQUIRES you to purchase in state BTW.

Comparing MSRP is relevant. Just because an item is junk and sells for half, doesn't mean its a good value. It started overpriced and now they're selling for a loss.
Niro, Leaf, Kona, etc, all sell for MSRP.
I bought one for 22k new. Could have been less. I can say this is not comprable to Tesla, BMW, Kia Group, or even the Leaf. These are fragile poorly built, inexpensive vehicles that are, even at 22k, not worth it.
You're not getting a great or slickdeal. You're getting overpriced, heavily discounted junk, at a price above what its worth. Even when 50% off, they still cant get rid of them.
Put one on a lift and take a look.

Thankfully I haven't invested too much in engine-specific tools as most of those will be useless on EVs. Most of my tools will likely be applicable to them.
