What's the return value of the batteries? Any way to return the batteries and get the tool at a discount?
Anyone know the answer to this? When I did the Kobalt buy more save more thing it split the discount up among the tools like Home Depot does, and I assume if I would have returned them then I would have kept the discount on the other tools. When I add this to my cart the tool shows up as free, so I don't know if you could return only part of it.

Curious why this deal isn't getting the action of the ryobi deal. Selection not near as good but I own both and the kobalt are Better hands down.
I'm going to guess it's 2 things: 1) the ability to easily "hack" the Ryobi tool deals by returning the batteries and 2) overall consumer confidence in Lowe's long term support for the battery platform.

I love the Kobalt 24v line. I have 13 of the tools and use them frequently. But getting them at good prices required me to sell extra battery kits. I just bought the planer with this deal, so will have to sell another. Not a huge deal for me, but not something most consumers want to deal with.

Agree this should be getting more traction, but I also have tools from each brand and prefer Ryobi overall, though it varies tool to tool. Mainly I'm very disappointed with the Kobalt brushless drills compared to Ryobi and Bosch brushless models. They are slow, weak and have awful trigger lag. The reciprocating saw (specifically the smaller one-handed model) is also pretty meh. I really like the Kobalt circular saw and oscillating tool though.
Interesting. My experience with the one-handed reciprocating saw has been the opposite. I've used it for multiple demolition jobs, interior renovations, and to cut up a large tree that fell in the road during a storm. With a 4ah battery and a good blade it's a little beast.

I agree about the circular saw, which came alive with a Diablo blade (the stock one was rubbish) and the oscillating tool, which is fantastic.

Yup, I really like the one handed reciprocating saw...I use it to help butcher deer.

Kobalt is made by GreenWorks. So if you like GreenWorks you should like Kobalt. I just have never had luck with GreenWorks tools.
The Kobalt line is made by Chervon. Chervon is similar to TTI (Ryobi, Ridgid, Milwaukee) in that Chervon makes power tools for lots of brands, including GreenWorks.

Greenworks is from Globe Tools. Chervon makes EGO yard tools.
