How does this phone compare to the Samsung A50/51 or Motorola G Power? I currently have a Motorola E5 with Tracfone and notice many of the newer Motorola phones are quite heavy. Both versions of the G Power have a 5000Mah battery but then weight over 7 ounces. I don't really need a bigger battery. 4000 is plenty.

I have had this phone for several months (>6), and I cannot recommend it. All of the apps that you want running in the background (i.e. video doorbells, security cameras, etc.) will not stay running. When I tried to use this as my daily driver I missed camera notifications and doorbell rings all the time. I tried to work with TCL to get this resolved, but after several weeks of troubIeshooting with them, I gave up. Other than that I found it to be a fine device, but that shortcoming was a deal breaker for me. I still use it as a backup, and still those apps will not stay running in the background for notification purposes.

What do you mean running in the background? Android will automatically put them to sleep, especially Android 10. This shouldn't stop your notifications.

I have the 10L, and have the exact same issue. Randomly, I'll miss notifications - including very critical ones - they simply never appear. Otherwise, this phone is an amazing deal. I first noticed this when I was missing Bumble notifications and having expired matches. Then, Discord wasn't notifying me. Then - the majority of apps stopped notifying me!

The 10L does have a lot of "auto features" that do things on your behalf, such as automatic app removal after non-use for an extended period. I wonder if something is doing this in the background? It also has a "memory optimizer". I wonder if it's terminating sessions too aggressively?

A lot of this is due to Android 10. I noticed this issue with a game I played as soon as my Samsung galaxy updated. It used to stay running in the background for days and now it loads most of the time when I go back into it (could be as little as 30 minutes later).

A few things I would recommend looking for in settings and seeing if it's listed as something configurable.

- global sleep settings
- look at the corresponding app via settings and see if you see "allow background activity" (allow) or "optimize battery usage" (disable optimization)

To sum up:
- crappy hardware
- crappy software
?

Web traffic to chinese servers can be too much sometimes so the phone stops the app from running in the background to save battery.
Its a cool feature you get from TCL.

It does stop all notifications from the apps. Like I said, no notifications for any of my doorbell or camera apps.

TCL had me try several things over the weeks I was working with them, but none corrected the issue. I was not trying to start a debate over this, I just wanted to let people know they might also have this issue.
