Another hackable HD deal. Add the impact driver for store pickup. Ship or pickup the saw at a separate store. Don't pick up the driver and you'll get refunded the difference.

Must resist. Hahah but anyone know if this will cut through rebar? We
It will cut through like butter. You will be amazed at what these kind of saws can cut through and how fast and how clean. Ive cut up to 1" thick steel with this but if im not mistaken its rated for 1/2" thickness on a consistent basis. It cuts faster then a full size deep cut band saw. I have this exact saw and its awesome
edit: and when i say 1/2" thickness i mean like angle, c channel, i beam material etc. you can do thicker if its steel plate and set the depth. i use this saw in construction on a daily basis and has not failed yet. of course the 2 1/4" depth is the most limiting factor but of course as long as cut you need you can do. i have a 9" corded mk morse but with all that extra size your depth of cut only increases to 3 1/4". obviously that does cut faster. i need a cordless 9" version to come out so bad idc what brand it is ill buy batteries and charger for it. Milwaukee only made an 8" which only increases capacity to 2 9/16" so i see an 8" as useless. o also most of these saws in compact versions dont have chip collectors but this makita does which trust me is a big deal. these things throw tons of little shards. either way chip collector dont get it all. i HIGHLY suggest to wear safety glasses with this cuz will get and it will get you good
I feel the same way about this saw that I did when impact drivers first hit the market. This tool is a game changer, it cuts through steel like butter and blades are incredibly cheap. Once you get used to it you can make incredibly accurate cuts that are perfectly clean and ready for welds or whatever your application is.

That's what I got it for… so I hope so!
Possibly, but isn't recommended by Makita. Look at the blades for the saw. The saw's specs and manual don't give any indication about what it's intended to cut, but the blades do. All of them are rated for thin metal: gauge sheet metal, emt, roofing, etc. None will recommend rebar. The most any of them recommend is 1/4" wall tubing or conduit, and that's for the aluminum blade.

100% agree. These kind of saws are always my first go to metal cutting if can be done in 1 pass. Better then bandsaws. And very easy and comfortable to handle a little one like this. Got guys at my work i had to prove to how great it was. They were like ill jus use i bandsaw and im like ok lets race ill show you. Beat them every time and my cut always perfectly straight and cut looks like it was done by the factory. Dont have that slightly wavy cut you get with bandsaws sometimes. And this is up against full size portable bandsaws not a little one. Obviously i still have a bandsaw as there are things they can cut that this cant but theres also things that this can cut that a bandsaw cant so they both have their use
Awesome saws. For those of us in an industrial setting, the only negative is these metal cutting saws still require a hot work permit. Check with your plant's safety coordinator.

The only thing it will have trouble cutting through is a Nature's valley Granola bar.
