I remove the battery - since leaving batteries in hot/cold cars will quickly degrade their performance/cycle life, anyways.
It is powered via USB cable to a cigarette lighter adapter. With this setup, as soon as I start the car, the camera powers up. All I have to do is press the "power button" before I shift my car into drive/reverse. It records on to a microSD card in 10-minute clips. As the microSD fills up, the oldest 10-minute clip is automatically over-written.
Hope this helps!

4k is often just scaled up resolution, so not always more quality.

the blasted thing over heats in 5k/2.7k recording sometimes even at 1080. lasts about 5-10 minutes before shut down. only way i found to keep it from shutting down is using external power.
Using it as webcam is glitchy. connection via usb-c and micro hdmi port (i bought the media mod and cam link 4k) the software they provide for webcam is buggy as balls. camlink 4k sometimes recognizes and most of them no signal (its not the cable. i swapped out 3 cables)
gopro needs to stop concentrating on hardware and focus on the software side.
i would recommend trying out insta 360 one x2 instead of gp9b. although kinda pricey.
