Here is a good article on it. Seems like a solid machine, but damn, 8gb of ram max Frown Asus ZenBook 13 UX325EA review | Laptop Mag [laptopmag.com]

The ZenBook 13's panel measured 76.1% on the DCI-P3 color gamut [laptopmag.com] which is below the 83.4% premium laptop but above the 44.2% from the Acer Swift 3. It was not, however, enough to overcome the Envy 13's 81.9% or the MacBook Air's 80%.
Unfortunately, the ZenBook 13 isn't as bright as I would have hoped. It averaged only 370 nits, which is better than the Swift 3's 251 nits. They're both dimmer than the 382-nit average, the MacBook Air (386 nits), and the Envy, which notched 401 nits.

In day to day use, where would the 8gb of RAM show itself to be a bottleneck? I'm thinking of Office apps, some relatively lightweight study software (2gb recommended), and light browsing.

.......
so 5 hours of on screen time for most users?
(no clue what the real number is but it is not 22 hours laugh out loud)
what is funny is the picture below from asus has the text "Up to 18 hrs battery life"
(not even consistent on the messaging)

Big shame on 8gb not being upgradable. Would have snapped up if it was upgradable or 16gb.
The review is for 16gb mind you.

for what you describe, you should perfectly fine with 8GB of RAM ram. case to illustrate: 11 year old HP desktop with intel gen 2 i7 processor, 8GB ram works perfectly, fast for office, browsing and apps (e.g. epic). if you want to save $$ buy less expensive lenovo ideapad or you can also buy used thinkpad / dell latitude (not more than $200).

This seems expensive. I feel like I've seen 8gb ram laptops for around 500-600 lately

For a 4-core CPU and 8GB RAM in 2021? Last Black Friday laptops with these specs were around $400. I guess there are lots of people willing to throw their money away.
Not in this form factor, no. There's a big difference between a zenbook and an entry level laptop. If you disagree, please present links.

And it was an 11th gen i7 with two Thunderbolt 4 ports on those? Nope.

OK Processor and 8 GB RAM Max kills the deal. Especially if you plan to do some content creation on the go. Probably the screen is the only thing going for it at 450 nits.

For $30 more you can get the Gateway Content Creator with the Ryzen 5 4600H with dedicated Nvidia 1650 GPU and 120 Hz panel at regular price at Walmart. I'm waiting for that to drop in price to $599 which has been several times this year.
