Not sure it is worth the risk.
Just get it. Initially, I saw it on sale, after I did my research, the sale was done and I had to wait for 2 months for the next sale. I got a second one for another computer, a MP monitor via target where they have the same prices as MP, got the redcard 5% and some amount of rebate. Doubt they have open box though.

The issue I mentioned is I think specific to use of USB-C from a M1 Mac (the latest implementation of their USB-C being incompatible with older versions of USB-C on the Dell but not the the LG)
It is possible that there is a different issue with a different combination of Mac, port and type of connection.

Just use Windows key + left or right to snap windows to that half of the screen.
Or download an app called Power Toys, and use the Fancy Zones feature. You can set up different sized zones across your screen for your windows to automatically fill in.
Can't speak on the gaming part, but for a productivity monitor, the 34" DM is great.
However, some might just not like the panel tech (VA) while others do.
If its free to return, there's little risk beyond inconvenience.
That said, although I'd like a newer VA to replace my 8 year old one, I think i'll just keep waiting for the sub $1000 42" OLED rumored to be coming around year end.
