Boob physics aside, this game is 10/10. Also might be a better rental if you play games 1 time and are finished with them. I bought it though, worth the full 60$

If story and voice acting is the main point of contention, I don't understand how you enjoyed the REmakes...that dialogue was also cringe

Gameplay is king imo.

This game is a lot better than the predecessor... I.e. resident evil 7.

Anyone complaining that the scenario(s)/writing/acting is lacking doesn't understand that Biohazard / Resident Evil has always been like the videogame version of a schlocky horror movie. C'mon, kids, you've had a full quarter century to figure that out.

I'd wait it out, it'll drop in price like a rock over the next few months. Ubisoft games just don't hold their value, look at past examples like Control and Dark Souls, or Like a Dragon. Just not worth it, better to wait and not pick up ubisoft games at near full price. If you gotta buy something day one, better off buying from a different publisher, maybe pick up Valhalla or something instead.
Everything not Nintendo drops....I have no problems paying more to support developers of good games

Unpopular opinion:

I didn't like this game at all. I love the original RE series and the remakes.

The story was silly, with cringe worthy writing.

Things that just irk me like when your character makes statements at the beginning of the game "there's other survivors?!" - survivors of what? There was no apocalypse. You were kidnapped.

The acting and writing of the antagonists is just as bad.

The one character that I really thought was fun and odd was the merchant.

But basically you have to go into this not paying any attention to the story or writing - because it's very flawed and poorly edited.

Graphics and gameplay were a solid 8/10.

Story and bad voice acting? 2/10.

Like I said. Simply an opinion, most likely an unpopular one in this thread - but if you're after GOOD writing, acting, and solid story, stay away. This is for people who don't mind cringe-worthy games.
With all due respect I think you missed some key pieces of the story. For example; You reference the beginning survival remarks. I don't see what was confusing about asking about survivors. The game essentially starts off with you waking up in this village and trying to piece together what's going on while fighting various werewolves. The comment about other survivors is made by you as a stranger trying to understand what's happening in the village after your initial experience with it.

FWIW, I played and beat the game. I thought it was pretty phenomenal. I felt it really executed various great mechanics we love from different RE entries into one complete package. Throw in the stunning presentation along with a good story and various really interesting villains and you got a great single player experience

I think it was because I enjoyed it when they were first released. I also thought the puzzles were A LOT better. And the antagonists weren't out of fairy tales.

Yes RE and the remakes are goofy, but it's better gameplay.
I still have nightmares when I think of the Hunters.

The clack, clack, clack of the claws when they walked. And that sound they made when they jumped. If you were anywhere in the vicinity of a jumping Hunter, you were about to lose your head, literally.

Ah, the memories.

Jack Baker is more scary and cool than any of the silly enemies in this game, boss battles were much better too

but i do like the lycans better than the silly mold monsters in 7

Do you just make things up as you go along? Not only is Resident Evil not a Ubisoft game, out of all the games you mentioned, only Valhalla was made by Ubisoft.

How important is it to have played the game prior to this?

I can still remember the misery of playing the first resident evil on the PS1 with NO memory card.
Would always make it to the first licker thing and then MOTHER TRUCKER im dead and had to start from the beginning.

But I was lucky enough to have the PS1 a memory card was pushing it back then.
