Specs:
  • DDR4 3600 (PC4 28800)
  • Timing 18-20-20-38
  • CAS Latency 18

Note: While the reviews for this model of Oloy RAM on Newegg are limited but very good (this particular model only came out recently), Tom's Hardware [tomshardware.com] in discussing the general quality of OlOy RAM concluded that:

So, should you feel comfortable buying OLOy RAM? For the most part, the answer is a resounding yes, because the company uses industry-standard ICs, which are the same as those found in many of its better-known competitors. In our tests, OLOy RAM was at least as fast as its direct competitors so performance should not be a problem.
Rated 5 out of 5 on Newegg

Update: If you need a 32 GB kit, I just posted a 2 x 16 GB DDR4 3200 kit for $134.00, click here.

The one which you posted has a CAS latency of 16. I am looking for 14 latency. Performance wise, how much different are 14 and 16? Thanks

On 3200 MHZ, a CAS latency of 16 is standard. I don't know how much difference CAS 14 would make.

There are also other things to consider. Besides the memory, there's also your system and the applications that you run that matter as well. Would a more responsive memory even be noticeable? Finally, how much are you willing to spend?

Thanks. Sounds good. Sticks with latency with 14 are around $80-90 more. Wondering if that much extra money is justified. Thanks

What platform? If you're on AMD Zen 2 and or Zen3 I would say ignore CL14 "XMP" sticks.

The reason the CL14 sticks are more expensive is because the memory IC used is known for being relatively over clocker friendly, though the 3200 cl14 SKU isn't technically the best quality bin. It's the same as the 3600 CL16 SKU for the specific Samsung IC. IE: 3200 CL14-14-14-34 = 3600 16-16-16-36 generally, though it depends on "brand" too. 3600 cl14, 3800 cl14, and 4000 cl15/16 are generally the best bins right now, but I wouldn't recommend spending so much for plug and play XMP.

-On intel, 3200mhz c14 has "absolute" nanosecond latency and Super Pi synthetic benchmark benefits on its XMP profile.

-On AMD, the latency for 3200 CL14 is higher and worse than any run of the mill basic 3600 CL16-18 kit. There's no real reason to use 3200 cl14 or 3600 CL14 on AMD Via XMP. Waste of money.

You're buying those sticks for manual OC purposes. IF youre on AMD, make sure TRFC is at least set to a base of 350ns. This will impact performance quite a bit if the XMP profile doesn't work well with the board.

Thanks. I need 2x8GB 3200 and that's an option as well at $79.99 -- not sure if that's a good deal, but some of the reviews are *yikes* -- suggesting these are seconds that didn't pass quality control?

All RAM gets binned. In other words, the RAM is tested and the very best usually costs the most. This is good RAM, see the article in Tom's Hardware. It'll perform to the specs that you buy it for. It just may not have the potential to be overclockable.
