RIDGID 18-Volt OCTANE Lithium-Ion Cordless Brushless Reciprocating Saw (Tool-Only) with Reciprocating Saw Blade-R8643B - The Home Depot $75

I bought one today (6/6/2021) from Home Depot for $73.07 with military discount. I asked the Ryobi representative and the Home Depot employees to find one. They were not much help. I found it on my own.

Suggestion
1. Look up in the storage racks
2. Look in the tool security shelf
3. Look in the clearance rack
4. Ask a TTI employee (Milwaukee or Ryobi rep)
5. Ask a Home Depot employee
6. The App, website, & instore inventory may not be reliable.

On shelf with $105 price sticker. Remembered this listing, so asked them to scan for price. Came up $75! Using Home Depot app, came up out of stock...obviously one left.Apparently, it can take some time for them to update the clearance price stickers. Ask to scan the price and sometimes you get lucky. I have seen this before.

I got one. Thanks!

Bellevue Washington home depot still had these for $75. It had about 10 on a clearance end cap as of 9am 6/6.
Brickseek says 8, but there's 11 at the end cap (10 now)

None here in my area (LA/ So Cal). Went to a few stores, definitely, YMMV.
I needed this saw too to cut out the stumps of three woolly nightshade poisonous trees.

Hey SDers in the LA area, I was able to find 2 more in the Burbank store. They are on the bottom rack on the right side midway towards the back of the aisle with the white sale label for $75 in case anyone is looking for it.

Was able to replicate this deal at the Livermore(Bay area) home depot. They had two left, inventory changed on brickseek right after I bought it. The display says $120, the clearance tag in the cage says $105, but it rings up for $75 Smilie

I just came across one in my HD clearance aisle today for $75. It's now in my garage.

Anyone looking at this deal may want to ask for the display model if a NIB is not found. I was offered the display for $50, which turned out to be a long saga. Got R8642 (gen5x) unbeknownst to me with R8643B tag on receipt, bought with partial store credit, return denied (the retail equation), manager overrode denial via call to TRE, me asking and getting R8647B (latest Max Output) for same price as R8643B (Octane) in the end.

Also, what's your experience with Octane circular saw and angle grinder? I read about cut-out and bogging down in user review and YT videos. Not confidence inspiring, maybe Max Output iteration will be better.

My Ridgid circular saw never bogs down when I'm using it on studs, plywood, and 4x4s (multiple cuts), but it frequently does when I hand it off to my 16 year old nephew - leading me to believe that many complaints are due to user error. Just keep the blade straight in the kerf and it should be fine.

Thanks for feedback. Sounds like you have Gen5x version. See this video https://youtu.be/HSj67UjKO8E. Octane is just miserable with ripping thick material.

I watched a few minutes of your video and can say that I've never had one cut out on me like that, then again, I've never cut a hundred feet of multiple stacked OSB panels without pausing or giving the saw a break. Though it seems to me like the Octane was doing it's job and cut the saw off when it got hot to protect the battery, motor, and electronics.

If your job involves torture testing like that, then it looks like you should spring for the M18 Fuel, but if your needs are more modest than that extreme, the Ridgids should be just fine.

a little late to this but octane is one of the better line in my opinion. bulkier yeah but it works damn good with a octane battery those extra terminals trump that max output nonsense downgraded crap they are making now. grinder works well its not a 60v one but it works! gen5x with a 5ah battery back in 2015 /2016 was pretty strong in the lumber and crap i was cutting so this octane one puts out way more power. if you can come across octane id buy it. i just bought up 9ah batteries and lemme say with that 3 gallon shop vac from 2009 it is damn powerful!

workshop addict hates Ridgid and does some pretty unfair unrealistic testing. He's a Milwaukee fan boi im neutral i like m12, personally refuse to own m18 i just flip m18 stuff. DeWalt is good. its honestly hard to stick with only one line of tools because dewaukee ridgiobbi all have unique stuff they come out with. nobody else but DeWalt has the 60v line-up. Milwaukee has the MX series but it's about the cost of a left kidney, unaffordable and hard to build upon because of its cost!. if you come across a deal jump on it and build your selection. just dont ever own kobalt or craftsman or porter cable or hitachi those are all sinking ships that have sunk deeper than the titanic.
