This thing is an absolute monster for the price, seems to destroy everything in its class no? 4 USB A ports.. damn

if you need more power(this is already faster than the g7's) just wait for 6/8 core variants and their pricing will be amazing. What a monsta

This is not a powerful laptop which can be termed as performance monster but a lightweight laptop with decent CPU and GPU power, mainly targeted towards people who doesn't need huge performance but prefer a bigger high resolution screen. This is more powerful than most of the 15.6 Thin laptops and 2-in-1 available at this price like Dell Inspiron 15 5518, HP Envy x360 15 or bigger Inspiron 17 7000 series. This Processor has very good single core score and in milti threaded workloads, it performs equally to a 6 core i7-9750H.
While MX450 25w is not a powerhouse by any means, it's based on Turing, basically a GTX 1650 with lower clock speed and 64 bit bus and has the turning based nvenc encoder and decoder. It will give better boost over Iris XE, over 40% in GPU accelerated workloads like Video encoding or editong, content creation etc.

If you need performance then wait for the AMD version with 5000H series CPU and minimum of GTX 1650 graphics, up to RTX 3050.

It definitely can but if you're looking for a gaming oriented laptop, there are far better choices at this price.

I'm really looking for something in the 15.6inch range with a great screen. Is this laptop not worth the price?

is it just me or is anyone else turned off by the off-center placement of the touchpad?

This laptop checks a lot of boxes, but with apple pro m2 around the corner.. maybe, it's a tough sell. I could see the off-center track pad being annoying. A full keyboard, 16in of retail space, more than 1080p resolution, and excellent overall office productivity specs make this close to great, but again.. 1k is still a lot given the competition.

Actually 1K is pretty cheap for what you getting and there isn't really any comparable laptop at this price, unless you're bringing cheap gaming laptops with powerful hardware but sacrificing in every other corner. Can you show such examples of those competitive machines at this price?

There's no alternative to this laptop in this price range. This same laptop with ryzen 7 5800h would be a great power house, since it's metal build, great screen, above average battery life and biometric login like fingerprint and IR face unlock.

But it doesn't have a 5800h, the m1 is already miles ahead in terms of cpu power of this cpu, the display is brighter, the form factor is lighter, longer battery life, etc. Don't get me wrong, this laptop is nice, but it's also 4 pounds. There is a huge difference.

The whole off the center keypad is actually not that bad, you get used it after a while. I also agree that this laptop checks OFF a lot of boxes, if someone doesn't game I see this as a very decent buy.

As far as for M2, I love mac and all and I'm currently using the M1, but there are just easier to deal with Windows at times if you are into some special hobby the hardware support and software support are more readily available.
