If you buy this make sure to opt out of Sidewalk; Amazon is turning on wifi Sharing on their devices by default, to turn off you need to opt out.

they are really pushing their stuff to boost their
Mesh surveillance network
...so they can sell access to the government.
Aren't they

Edit:
it's called "Amazon Sidewalk"- it's a real thing. you have to affirmatively opt out if you have any Amazon smart home products.
I was just about to buy when I read that this will not work with your existing doorbell chime. It says that you also have to purchase ring chime to get it to alert inside on something other than your phone. I'm very invested in the Ring ecosystem, but I'm not upgrading my doorbell if I have to buy their chime.

Yea, wish I didn't get one. $30 a year adds up. Subscriptions bug me.
I agree, which is why I don't have any subscription other than utilities / mandatory items like insurance, CC payments, etc. If more of us stuck by the old model of Microsoft Office (Pay once, use for life) we wouldn't have Office 365 (subscription) on so much crap like this.

I just observed this shortly after installing it! I had two Amazon deliveries and none of them was detected. Yet my Alfred Camera phone on a second floor window picked both of them up. I googled about this and it appears some residents constantly experience this while others never. I wonder if Amazon has a secrete way of bypassing the motion detection, which some of their delivery drivers choose to utilize.
I would assume this would not be the case. With video of them dropping off a package at your front door would be confirmation that it was delivered (not confirmation you received it).

Try looking in history instead of the timeline shown when you click on the camera.

That's where all the motion captures will be shown, and there are usually lots more.

Makes me wonder what time of the day the deliveries take place. Do they even have the zones set up correctly? I'm not saying this could not happen but I have yet to have an issue with my Ring not recording when Amazon drops off a package.

Yes, I think Sidewalk is awesome, and will lead to better devices. Apple is doing it too with their Find My network.
I think sidewalk is awesome too but it needs to stay where it is on the sidewalk not in my house.

I was able to power it with a power brick from other device that I throw away I don't even know what it was for, but I cut the wire and it powered it on just fine, it was a 12VDC 500mA brick.

you can also return the dot if you don't need, just talked to the agent, he said I'll get $17.99 back, so seems like they calculate by 55% off original price.
So the echo dot is $39.99 original price, 55% off which is $17.99.

I agree. I did this the other day. I also saw a news story on it last night, and I am sure Amazon will change it so users opt-in instead of opting out. Shady business for them not to send out a notice to their customers.

I would definitely adjust the motion settings and any other setting and make sure the camera is clean from any debris.

YUP. Spied on. What does that even mean. So I'm guessing you don't have any IoT devices. You don't use a computer because cookies are used to see what you are doing etc. I'm actually wondering how did you even make this post. Did you ask a friend to chime in on a few posts on SlickDeals.

Why would Amazon block video of their deliveries? Just think about it for two seconds. Why? What is the plus for them doing this? All I can come up with are reasons why they would want you to be notified of deliveries. Maybe it's the 5G blocking Bezos employees as they insert metal into your water supply!

After noticing a Home Depot delivery (via FedEx) was not picked up either, I made some adjustments. I doubt any Amazon delivery people would intentionally bypass motion detection - it's probably another conspiracy theory Smilie

I have a feeling that motion detection on this camera is not super sensitive from a distance, especially if the motion is super fast (as in the case of most deliveries).

My house was a new built and the builder installed a Skybell. I didn't want to pay $25 a month to the security company after one year's included service expired and needed a camera just to see who might be at the door before opening it. I just need to find an inexpensive monitoring panel (other than phones) to replace the original panel on the wall (which mysteriously died a couple of months after the one year period). Any suggestion? I have tried an old iPad, but the latest Ring app is not supported. I downloaded an older version - the camera is not showing even though I get notifications on the iPad. It won't scan the doorbell's barcode either.

My builder's contractor used a three wire cable instead of two. So I was able to install a standard doorbell button beneath the camera to use the original chime.
