I have Had 2 cm1000s in a little under 2 years these things are garbage. Sadly. I had one that faulted all the time and that one was replaced under warranty. The one I have now is constantly over heating and resetting its self. I have it in an open area at the edge of a desk with 2 fans blowing on it as I wait for my new modem to come back in. I had always had arris / Motorola's before this with no issues so I'm going back to arris. Bought the new router this weekend waiting for it to come in. If you go to the netgear site you will see they already discontinued this modem… likely due to knowing of the issues I'd bet.

+1 on overheating and shutting down. i fixed this by getting a usb 120mm fan and zip tying it to cool it. The charger that connects to the outlet also gets really hot and seems like i am starting to have problems with it again. thinking about water cooling the outlet

I am turning it off for now. This is a pretty cool technology, which will make a lot of things possible, such as Tile, but I figure Amazon could at least offer me a 10 dollar credit to turn it on or something.

Man I'm glad it's not just me my wife thinks I'm a lunatic with how I baby that thing. But I showed her the connection is only stable for like a few hours if I don't.

It's sad that someone gave you an unhelpful vote. The person asking about medicom could have and should have contacted medicom for the correct information. You point that out the people get angry at you. 😥 There is a difference between asking for help with difficult to find accurate information or opinions and just being lazy. They could have looked it up and shared the information.

I got Costco version CM1100($119) never had problem. I guess CM1100 better than CM1000.
