LOL, sorry to burst your bubble:

from Klipsch forum and tech support:

No power off switch, no stand by mode and the sub draw 16w of electricity. No thanks.

There must be some serious inventory liquidation going on since these have been on sale most of the year via major retailers and the prices are getting lower and lower.

They are designed that way so the speakers don't get destroyed. I've had these for a very long time now. I leave them on 24/7 and there's no noticeable increase in cost of electricity. The only problem some and not all people will experience is the humming noise. Some people get it, some people don't. Probably due to electricity setup. I've never had a problem with them humming and I have moved too many times to count.

How would this compare to the Logitech Z533 set?
I would choose this every time over any Logitech speaker set. Even if you're thinking about buying the more expensive Logitech Z625 don't do it. I would just buy the Klipsch as the only weakness of the Klipsch is clarity of vocals as it gets drowned out by the booming bass.

Instead of buying any higher priced Logitech's I would just drop "Tang Band W3-881SJ 3" Cast Frame Neodymium Driver" drivers into the satellites and your vocals would supremely improve. You'd be wondering why you haven't done it sooner. Dropping in Tang Bands into the satellites is only worth it when you can get the Klipsch Promedia 2.1's for this kind of price. The sound is difficult to beat at this price with Tang Bands dropped into the satellites.

Wow, this is a good price! As far as longevity.....I've had the latest revision with the cheaper sub and right angle plug that supposedly breaks on the back. Had them for ten years (at three locations) now with almost every day use and literally been powered on this whole time......still work great! I know someone else that bought these and they had a hum issue but mine never had that problem, so something to watch out for and return them if they do.

Ordering a second set now for a backup or to use on my TV.

Thanks, OP. Got some last time for $70, and they are awesome. Just got 3 more sets. Two for employee bonuses, one for my other room.

These are great speakers and are better than many speakers or soundbars costing much more.

The one complaint I have is that it includes bluetooth with no PIN or security. So anyone in the area can connect to the speakers. This is not a huge issue in a house, but could be a pain in an apt complex.

The tang bands are drop in, plug and play?

Guys if you want the best sound possible out of these speakers connect them to a preamp. I'm using the scarlet solo and the quality is amazing.

Had these for many years. They're great. SUPER loud (way more than necessary for computer speakers). I think my volume is set barely above "min" and at 100% on the Window volume it's too much.
You should swap the volumes. You're over amplifying the signal going in, pre-amplifying will distort your music. Like, when your iPhone volume is too loud in your car and Bluetooth sounds like crap. You want the gain on the last volume channel.

So just to share my experience, the quality of these speakers has gone down over time.

originally got a set of these in 2002, and those lasted all the way to 2015 when a roommate urinated on them while drunk. Roommate bought me a replacement set but the new set had hardwired connections to the sub for the speakers, and no power switch. They also only lasted a year or two before something blew in the sub so that only one speaker worked. I have another set I got a few years ago that has intermittent connection issues.

i love these speakers so it's a shame but at this price, I think it's worth it. They used to be $125-150
