LOL, sorry to burst your bubble:

from Klipsch forum and tech support:

"Power consumption is less than a LED nightlight. They must remain on when not in use because they go into idle after 15 minutes." https://community.klipsch.com/ind...s-powered/
No power off switch, no stand by mode and the sub draw 16w of electricity. No thanks.
There must be some serious inventory liquidation going on since these have been on sale most of the year via major retailers and the prices are getting lower and lower.

So just to share my experience, the quality of these speakers has gone down over time.

originally got a set of these in 2002, and those lasted all the way to 2015 when a roommate urinated on them while drunk. Roommate bought me a replacement set but the new set had hardwired connections to the sub for the speakers, and no power switch. They also only lasted a year or two before something blew in the sub so that only one speaker worked. I have another set I got a few years ago that has intermittent connection issues.

i love these speakers so it's a shame but at this price, I think it's worth it. They used to be $125-150

Have this set from Costco when it was about $90. I wouldn't say that these are amazing speakers for $90 but for $60 it's a deal.

They are loud and have deep bass considering the size of the sub but they don't not have the sound stage or clarity of my Jamo bookshelf speakers that have been on sale here for the past year though those would cost about ~150 including a small amp to power them. The Jamos I would enjoy better for most things.

TLDR: The Klipsch to me is just a decent all around PC speaker PLUS since there's no off switch the white LED acts as a night light and the sub acts as a foot rest.

So, with a like a $5.00 remote control power switch, your problem is solved. Thats what I did. Couple that with a $7.00, bluetooth adapter, and when you turn on the power switch with the remote, the speakers turn on, the bluetooth turns on, and bluetooth auto connects. I use it for my phone and computer. Perfect with very little fuss. And im a stickler tor simplicity and friction of use.

You aint finding speakers that sound this good, anywhere near this price.

I hear a lot of complaints about buzzing and humming with these speakers. Is that common?

Honestly, because these are designed for the PC, I think many people have unshielded cables laying near the sub. This would cause interference, which would sound like a buzzing.

While I don't own this set, I'm familiar with them and some friends had the same problem - also with other brands like Logitech.

Whenever they moved the subwoofer, which also houses the amp, the interference went away.

That's my 2 cents. You can also check out the comments on both Costco and Amazon.

I hope this helps. 👍

Thanks. I did want to try them. I know what you mean about cables being in the wrong place. I'll give it a try. Thanks again.

I just ordered 1 from Costco. I have some amazon smart plugs and an audio bluetooth dongle. I'll find out soon to see how it works out.

For those concerned with the lack of a power button, a smart switch would be a very quick fix for this issue. Then you could control the power via your smartphone or your favorite virtual assistant.

This is the right answer. Knowing this, my power wire for this is off of the desk and situated along the edge of the desk so as not to contact any other wires. The power wire into the sub is what you need to keep away from other sources of RF interference.

So many bad reviews from people who don't understand basic sound/electrical installs.

Literally, all you need is an extra surge protector to make a switch and protect your new PC sound system while powered on.
