As a reminder, HD also still has the deal buy 2 batteries (4Ah each) and get a tool for free for $99

Well...if you use the Home Depot "method" you can pick up 6 x 4ah batteries and three chargers for $150 so I'm not sure how this would be considered slick even if these are HP+.

The +HP batteries are meant for the brushless tools. Not the same as the ones you're talking about.

SOME brushless tools. HP for half the (brushless) power tools it works on.

Because these batteries are optimized for the brushless tools. There's no point of having a bunch of cheaper batteries that don't optimize the performance of your tools. If you don't use the brushless then more power to you. If you have the brushless tools then this is definitely a deal for the +HP (not HP+) batteries.

After checking out my stuff, it seems that the brushless have a third connection point on the back of the battery. Just a diy guy stumbling through life. Easy way to check which battery I need now that I know it makes a difference

Have lots of both. In my experience there is no noticeable difference in power/functionality when pairing the hp+ with the brushless tools vs the Lithium or Lithium +. If you have a link to a video or other source that provides evidence of the hp+ batteries increasing power of the brushless tools please provide.

Thanks. I went and watched a few with the circular saw and hammer drills being tested using the ryobi blades and basic spade bits. The differences in some of the tests i saw online were minimal. <.5 sec per drilled hole. The circular saw struggled to cut thicker lumber with the Ryobi branded blade using both the Lithium and hp+ batteries but the HP+ did perform better. So there appears to be a difference although not enough to justify the higher priced hp+ batteries in my opinion. Personally I would prefer to upgrade the bits and blades to increase cuts speeds. If you are using these everyday and want to get the most out of the brushless and brushless HP tools it may makes sense for you to run the higher priced HP+ batteries although you will want to upgrade your bits and blades to maximize efficiency.

For reference....I use my Ryobi system frequently at home to make repairs and build small projects.

Can't find any specifics. Care to elaborate?

It's referred to as the "Home Depot hack." "Hackable" Home Depot deals are usually buy one, get one free deals. Oftentimes, people only want part of the deal (maybe they just want the batteries, or just need the tool... but not both), so they'll order the BOGO deal (battery 2-pack + free tool), and immediately cancel the part of the deal they don't want. This let's them obtain whichever part of the deal they're after at a significant discount.

There's a list somewhere on the forums of the prices broken down, and itemized.

I haven't done this myself, but this is what I have gleaned so far.
