If you want to avoid a sub, you want to spend more on floorstanding speakers instead of bookshelves.

I have some huge, 40+ pound floorstanding speakers in my main room, they still greatly benefit from a sub, especially for movie content.

If I could do it all over again, I'd buy better bookshelf speakers and two subs. This is what I learned from my garage system as the bookshelf speakers with 5.25 inch woofers generally blend well with a 12 inch sub in-room.

So my suggestion: for the price of the floorstanding speakers anyone is looking at, spend it on bookshelf speakers, speaker stands, and a sub instead.

Had these before and if I didn't go the wireless route, I'd buy a few pairs right now. I chose the infinity 162's because the center channel RC263 had rave reviews. I JUST hooked it up and love it so far as I didn't previously have the space to install it as is in my home because it's a beast

For those worried about bass, I downsized from Floorstanding Speakers to these for my apartment, and I still have to turn the bass frequencies down. They do get pretty low.

It's no replacement to having a sub, but for those in a situation like me it is more than plenty for a great sound experience.

Was looking for some new front stage and was considering Klipsch for a little less $$, are these worth it?

I just posted in the other thread for these speakers. Here is what I posted :

I have the 590 for the front stage in my media room. 530 for the side surrounds. I am very pleased by the sound quality these speakers produce. One thing I note is sound imaging is really good. I am able to distinctly sense where the instruments and vocals are placed within a sound mix. For some context, I also own JBL LSR 305 for my desk top and again imaging is top notch. However I greatly prefer the 590s and 530s. For a brief period I ran the 530s as my mains and was super impressed except for the bass. I do have dual PSA XS30 subwoofers (dual opposed 15" woofers in a sealed enclosure) doing the bass duties and I crossed them at 80hz.
I too have the 590s for the LCR and 530s as surrounds in my 7.2.4 setup.
Haven't had a chance to set up the 530s yet, but the 590s sound excellent.
I wonder if JBL will credit the price difference since I just purchased them a couple of months ago.

These only have 5 1/4" drivers.
Small drivers, but these are actually quite dynamic.

This is a killer deal. I've purchased multiple pairs to gift and use in one of my small home theaters.

The downsides to it are: the frequency response drops off above 14 or 15Khz that you likely won't ever notice when listening, there is a small resonance that shows up in measurements and also isn't very audible, and if you push them hard… there can be port chuffing. I've not experienced the chuffing myself because I've crossed them to a sub or didn't play them loud enough to make it happen.

As for positives: they image insanely well, detail retrieval is quite good, dynamic sound, and they work well both with lower end amplifiers, but get even better with great amplifiers.

These have been a top buy under $500 for a long time and they're still great. They're not my best speakers, but what I compare them with cost multiples of their price. The center channel is also quite decent for a small theater - the speakers do a good job of disappearing.

Can anyone comment on how these perform on the bass department? Rated @45 hz, do they perform well on the low end? Trying to avoid a sub in a 5.1 system.
I would just get a sub if you want bass. It's going to be more compact that getting really big speakers that will give you satisfying deep bass.

Not sure what you space concerns are though so you may be on the right track in your thinking..

These are professional quality so better than any of the Klipsch deals right?

I was hoping to use them for my desktop but also maybe sitting back a bit of distance at times also.
Just be aware that it is A LOT of speaker for a desktop. I bought these during the last sale and had them on my desk about 1.5-2ft from my head. Even at low levels it caused a slight ringing in my ears. I went back to my klipsch pro media 2.1. Considering how much extra equipment I added to my office for the JBL's (amp, dac, etc), the Klipsch have more than held their own.

These are very large bookshelf speakers and they sound amazing but they barely fit my speaker stands.

No doubt and I completely agree with you! The value proposition is much greater with higher quality bookshelves supplemented by flat subs that play <20hz with authority

FYI, just checked and JBL will only price match up to 30 days from purchase for anyone else wondering.
