Rtings doesn't seem to think it's worth it.

Yea seem very similar except for the little extra mid and high bass from the 9600. Thanks for the reply though I really appreciate it because I was not aware of Rtings comparison tool, it's so detailed wow.

These are legendary at this price point, but they won't fit you if you have a small head.
I wear a size small helmet. This is a very comfortable fit. It's the Fidelio x2's that are too large. Shp9500 are great for small heads.

I own these SHP9500's and love them. They are my first open back headphones. I wear them all day while programming and in the evenings for gaming. Super duper comfortable. My girlfriend with a small head wears them with no complaints.

They do leak a lot of sound but that's not an issue for me. They stay very cool on my ears compared to other headphones. They are pretty light weight. They are great for gaming, big improvement hearing noises in FPS compared to monoprice cheap headphones.

I'm wearing Audio-Technica ATH-AD700X right now, bought them because I heard they were the next step up from the SHP9500's. I'm sending them back after a month of use for a new pair of SHP9500's. They wear differently, are warmer. The sounds is only barely improved to my untrained ears.

Let me know if you have any questions. These headphones are awesome.

Here is a bundle discount with a mic. The mic gets low reviews, but I believe that is due to it needing a headphone splitter to fit in a regular computer.

$60+$13 = $73

mic usually goes for $15 alone, so a saving of $2!!! haha.

Are these audiophile headphones? If they are, anything else I need to buy to get the best sound out of my Note 9?
That's a very subjective question, but you can think of these like entry level "audiophile" headphones. They have a relatively neutral sound signature more like audiophile headphones and will perform very good out of most sources. They will not give that extra 10-15% that higher-end audiophile headphones will give you as improve your sources. People buying more expensive audiophile headphone area also looking for particular sound signatures and may want headphones that color the sound in specific ways.

For under $100, you won't find a better all around headphone in my opinion. It may not be the best at any one thing, but it's not bad at anything. It also responds well to equalization.

While they will sound great out of a cell phone, I wouldn't suggest these primarily for portable use. They are large, don't fold up, and don't block out any external sounds. These are good for listening around your house.

Thank you for answering. Do I need a DAC or amp (or both)? I have TIDAL which is supposedly lossless

Also you can try the free android app called Wavelet. It is an app with this headphone profile in it as well as many more. It has eq presets that level out the sound giving you a flatter/neutral response. It has other stuff too but you need to pay for the extras.

Very good for the price, but many would find them bass-light.

You won't need an amp unless they don't get loud enough for you. They are only 32 ohms so they are easy to drive and should be fine with a laptop/phone. Read more about DACs, short answer you won't need one, but it could benefit you depending on your setup.

I have these, and love them. I have tried getting more expensive headphones to see if they are better and I keep listening to the 9500. This is the video that made me purchase them, at $75 unfortunately Frown

Instead of the XDuo amp he suggested, I actually went with this and it is incredible.

I might actually get another pair at this price just in case.

I got this last year at $75 and I love it. I use headsets mostly to play Overwatch, and when compared to the one I had before, Sennheiser PC37X (Game One equivalent), this distinguish and pick up foot step sounds waaaaay better.

Wish the pads are little bit thicker but I have bigger ears. Pretty comfortable to wear for hours, highly recommend!

Its not easy like other headphones. It involves 3D printing adapters or buying 3D printed adapters in order to put on different pads.
