Wish it was brushless, I'd scoop one up for sure.

Not sure why but some buyers don't prefer brushless in reciprocating saw.

Just like the other guy. I have about 30 makita tools. This one is a dumpster fire. Get their full size brushless instead.

Has anyone compared 18V compact saws like this with a 12V Milwaukee Hackzall? I really wanted the Fuel brushless 12V Hackzall, but for this price, I may give this a go. Thanks OP.

1/2" stroke length on an 18V tool is pretty weak

I have both Milw and Mak. The Fuel is a beast for its size and voltage. Stick with the big Makita versus this tweener tool that does nothing really well.

Have you ever used the sub-compact recipro? I got one as part of a combo deal, and I like it

I have this thing and it was a waste of $. The power is lame, and when I tried to use a larger blade it bent something in the retainer mechanism. I need to take it apart and try to fix it but I haven't bothered so far.

Thanks. I've got a full-size 12 Amp corded sawzall, so I think I'll hold out for a deal on the M12 Fuel

The only reason to "prefer" non-brushless is because they are much cheaper. There is no advantage to a brushed motor over a brushless.
