Pay with your Chase Southwest Credit Card to get the 50x points per $
Giftcards qualify. Buy a $100 gift card, get 5000 points (worth ~$50, maybe more). I'm in.
Good catch. But any risk of the transaction date falling outside the window (Friday)?

Think I'll just buy a flight... can always cancel and spend over the year

I guess this is a safe purchase.

They must be getting hammered. Ordered a $100 gift like half an hour ago and no email yet about the giftcard.

Can you add the gift card to your account or can only be used at time of booking?

For $100 you can get a $100 gift card and 5,000 points worth $77.50, so $177.50 total value or a gain of $77.50.

For $105 you can get 8,510 points worth $131.90 total value, or a gain of $26.90.

If that answers your question. The better deal is to buy Gc, not points
Looks like there is a 40% point buying bonus on my account. For $99 you get 6000 points plus the bonus 5000 points.

That makes it a little closer to buying a gift card. I guess it comes down to point or gift card preference.

If I use my rapid rewards card to buy a flight for my spouse, does that "qualify" for this offer?

You are right, this assumes $105 for 3500 points, which is not a good deal

Probably more like $75. Hard to figure out why anyone would thumb this down.
Because it is a targeted email campaign. 1). You must have a SW credit card

It's not targeted. Everyone with a card gets it.

No, you won't. You decided not to fly last year, and half of this year so far. What a waste.

I will be on my 15th vacation next week with my 2021 CP. I lost count last year.

I suggest you start booking tickets.
They ought to extend it considering how many times they extended it for those who earned im 2019 into 2020.

They didn't extend it for 2019. There was no Covid in 2019. They extended 2020 into 2021.

You didn't take advantage of the extension, and still aren't flying. What exactly would you have them do exactly?

You earned CP for a year. You got a bonus for 10 months that you didn't use . You have wasted another 6 months. Why do they need to extend it again? Because you decided not to fly?

I'm really not understanding your argument.

tbh, i wish more people know this. sometimes i post a deal and days later (or even months) someone will bump it up and say "i can't replicate!" laugh out loud
.
It's amazing how ignorant people can be with the companies they do business with. If only they knew there was a team of over 40 people at SW alone that manage pricing they'd probably freak out. American, Delta and United have even more.

It's not as simple as saying I want to go from JFK to LAX and there is just a price sitting there.
