Just a friendly PSA, I find the best value in buying the last year's stainless steel model on clearance. Not only does it feel more premium, but the screen is more resistant to scratches. You can find it for more than 50% off after the new watch is released.

Been using a series 3 for about a year now and ready to upgrade. This is a great price, but I'm thinking I'll try and hold out for series 7, which should drop this one even more.

Well, it may be the biggest % off but that doesn't necessarily make it a universal value. If one is active then SS isn't the best material because of the heft -- it will feel unbalanced, especially running. But also, "premium" is a subjective too. To me "premium" is something sold in a find jewelry store and doesn't become obsolete in a matter of years, or even year, depending what upgrades the latest model brings.

So the best choice for me personally, is the alumimum model. It's light and I don't lose as much value if I trade it in the following year because of a new sensors/features -- or end up recycling it if I keep it a couple years.

The only way the SS is the best "value" is if that's the model one is already interested in. Otherwise the aluminum "sport" model is always going to cost less.
