Man people sure love to hate on the Sony's nifty-fifty...but at that price it's a great little lens for super casual stuff. I bring it when I just don't have it in me to bring my "real" glass.

I bought it open box from BB for about the same price in perfect condition. It is a good lens for the price but it has it flaws that some people might or might not care about. For me wide open at f/1.8 it has horrible CA in higher contrast areas that are out of the focal plane. It mostly resolves itself around f/2.4 though and for the price it is still a great lens that I will never sell.
Can anyone let me know what the price is for the A6600? My son is a college student, but I didn't want to ask him to sign up to just see the pricing.
I just bought an a6600 from Amazon warehouse. Rolled the dice on $898 used - acceptable and it's pretty much brand new but it didn't come with the original box. Still had original film on the screen and all the accessories were neatly wrapped unused.

People don't like it because its soft at 1.8 and has slow AF. The Samyang 45MM is only $100 more and better in every way. The lens is only great for $180 because it's one of the only lenses that cost $180 for Sony FE.

A bad lens at a good price is still a bad buy. Obviously, if you don't need fast AF or f1.8, that equation can change.
But for the vast majority of shooters, I wouldn't recommend that 50mm for any price, period. An out of focus shot is useless, and moments are fleeting.
Been waiting for the 35mm 1.4 GM to get an EDU discount. I know it's a new lens but any idea how long it typically takes to join the party? The 14mm 1.8 GM is even newer and that one's already got an EDU discount of 10%.
That's a more popular focal length. Once the demands slows down, they'll be on sale.

I was rejected at first. After I responded the email, I got approved.

If interested in a cheaper zoom lens look into the tamron 17-28 2.8.
