I didn't realize they still made the 15.6" chassis; I thought they had switched to 16" 16:10.

I have a 15.6" 8th gen i5 model and it's really a wonderful machine. It boots from hibernate as fast as most Windows rigs wake up from sleep. In hibernate, it can standby for a good month or more. Not my experience with Thinkpads, Surfaces, etc.

Bought a few different laptops over the years to try and replace it... they always get returned.

Strong recommend from me.

I avoid numberpads because of the off center trackpad. This one has a centered trackpad though. Anyone have thoughts they can share about using it in this regard?

Yeah pity LG gram 2021 models onwards used soldered RAM I believe. Look for the 2020 models, I upgraded my RAM to the max 40GB.

Wow, man this is an outstanding deal. I always though the Gram devices, while compelling, were overpriced. Any sale would be on last-gen hardware. But this is the latest, and the reviews of this machine blow the similar, recently-announced Galaxy Book out of the water. The i5 of this machine performs nearly as well as the i7. It is a hair underclocked or undervolted though, but it also does have pretty excellent integrated graphics. I don't like the empty space inside...i don't like losing features like battery life in favor of shaving off a couple ounces. But as a package, this is an excellent deal at this price. I personally would not buy it for my own reasons (which I'll get smartass replies if I mention them so I won't do so here), but if i was willing to make the requisite trade-offs and was in the market for a laptop, I would jump all over this thing.
