I think you misunderstand the purpose of this tire inflator. When you are in the middle of nowhere, you can pump air if you got a flat tire. It saved me a couple time when I have flat tire, I can fill the tire with enough air to get my tire fixed without changing to a spare tire.

He just fills up plastic bags with the free walmart air before he goes on long trips.

Exactly. More for emergencies and convenience. I keep a compressor in every car because you'll be so happy you did if you ever need it. Same story for a spare quart of oil and jumper cables

What is different between VL721 and VL731? Is VL731 better?

Thanks.
They're all junk: they'll work a couple times, but they may seize and fail at any point. Just buy whichever one feels best to you, then hope it doesn't fail.

Personally, I don't like cheaping out on emergency supplies.

bought one of these last night around. Couldnt get psi in flat tire past 30 pounds for a 50 pound tire. Thing got so hot it started smoking. If you want a fire in your car go ahead and buy this.
Would you suggest carrying a gallon jug of water to put the fire out?
Will distilled water work better to put the fire out or use regular drinking water?

I purchased this before and it's pretty good. I like the fact that it has a detectable cord. That makes it easier to store. I just purchased a second one for the other car.
Can it be used for kids mountain bikes if you have experience?

its junk, but its useful to keep something like this in the trunk because people usually forget to fill the spare.

for normal pump

I'm looking at getting the following one for $25. It has great reviews.

I suggest you pee on the unit while it is still plugged in and then stick your tongue in the socket

I have the vaclife tire inflator, same design and features but the one I have supports both ac and dc.
I like to use mine to inflate tires on my road cycle. Inflates to 100 psi pretty fast.
However there is quiet a down side to this version.
1 pumping air to auto tires takes much longer compare to my other electric inflator.
2 pump and the air hoes gets pretty hot.
3 electric wire is detachable but it Does not have a compartment to store it.

It is pretty easy to use set the psi you desire and hit the power button. It turns off, on it's own, when the desired psi is reached. I cannot speak on accuracy of the gauge because I haven't checked it yet. But I would assume it's correct.

If you don't have a emergency tire inflator in your car, I would say, this is a good deal. $13.49 for a peace of mind is totally worth it.
I just got mine in, and this one is much faster on topping up car tires (e.g. inflating from 32psi to 35psi) than all the other ones I've had or currently have (including ones I got at Costco and Sam's Club as part of kits). Another user here had the same experience. So it sounds like the AC/DC combo model is different, or it pumps slower when on AC?

Digital tire gauge is surprisingly accurate compared to my standalone digital tire gauges. With my other pumps with built-in analog gauges, the tire pressure always jumps 4-5psi higher than actual once it starts pumping.
And the auto-off feature is very handy...just would've like it'd be in 0.5psi increments instead of 1psi increments.

I just filled all 4 of a SUV. 31.5 psi to 35 psi. Worked like a breeze. Took a minute for each. I will probably be using it again only after a couple of months. If this thing works just 10 times, the money's worth. I am going to keep it. Fire hazard is no big deal as you wouldn't be placing the unit inside the vehicle when its being used!! Infact we could use it to start off a fire if we happen to get stuck in a cold winter night 😁

Wouldn't that kill the tire tho?
up to the tire shop to determine, depends how long it ran low at what speed, if it was a high load then the insides will be chowdered up https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxnkGiAOOhM
if it was low speed short duration and not too flat the tire maybe ok.
