This deal isn't exactly going to shatter the Earth, but if you are looking at getting a Roku Ultra, this is a good time. Deal is available at Amazon and Best Buy. This player seems to dip to $70 or so periodically.

This was unfortunately the BF price last year. If you can hold off on purchase, and they're releasing a newer one this year, you can probably cop this for $50 later. Yeah saving $20 ain't no thing if you need it now....
Peacock and Vudu aren't available, easily, on the Fire TV 4K stick. Fire TV pulls in live programming to let you know what is currently on, and the Roku doesn't do that. No ethernet on the Fire TV 4K.

I don't have any issues with amazon on my older Roku Ultra or newer one.

Try changing the wifi channel on your router.

It is only on amazon and there is a massive thread about the issue on the roku forums.

None of the solutions work.

Roku is the best interface for TV, bar none. Most app compatibility and easiest to use. Not a significant content provider (yet) so their service isn't optimized for their own corporate partners, the way others are. There's no hassle, it just works.

Drawbacks include YouTubeTV issues, no Twitch app, and occasionally they pick fights with other media companies, like when HBO Max was delayed by months.

Even still, you would need at least two other devices to equal the app compatibility you get with one Roku.

What is the "app compatibility" argument in 2021? All these devices run the same apps that 99% of people use. They all run all the major streaming services and even the fringe ones. Roku imho is the snappiest of the boxes but its interface is extremely dated. Still a great deal so I'm in two. They make great gifts

This post indicates there's a solution:

Re: Audio sync issue when watching Amazon Prime
I just started noticing the sync issue on Prime content - and it has been bugging me.

Just tried the 'unplug the HDMI and plug it back in' trick and that worked.

A thousand thanks....

From my understanding, these are some of the apps not available or not working well for the following devices. You need to decide if they are important to you.
Firestick 4k: No peacock, no chromecast capabilities Edit: Vudu is now apparently available based on the above post. About time.
Roku: No Kodi, No Youtube TV, currently some issues with Amazon Prime Video
Tivo Stream 4k: No YoutubeTV
Google Chromecast with Android TV: no apps missing that I know of

For me, I don't see a reason to pay the most for a Roku when Tivo is now only $29 and Google Chromecast with Android TV is still cheaper than Roku at only $49.

Also, although some of the apps are now available on all o the devices, some took months before they became available, like HBO Max on Firestick and Roku, and Vudu on Amazon. Apps are pretty much available on day 1 for Android TV. That's a big plus for me.

I have owned or used all of the above. I don't think the Roku is any snappier than the Google or Tivo. Just my 2 cents

No you don't. Roku is a closed system, it's all proprietary. The best you can hope for with a Roku is to cast other sources through this device. It's the Roku way or no way. Amazon gives you some latitude with the firestick and if you aren't happy with what you did, you can refresh the Firestick and start over again, good as new.

In for one over the TiVo Stream only because this has an Ethernet port.

Does this have a 2.1 HDMI output? (Future proof) My 4k fire tv recently updated and now it detected that my TV is not 2.1 HDMI.... Yes yes I don't even have a tv that takes 2.1, but soon will.
I believe it is 2.0. I'm actually have HDCP issues with the Ultra and need to restart the Roku after turning on my TV. I'm uncertain if it is partly caused by my HDMI switch that I had another Roku hooked up and wasn't running into this issue. The TV is 1080p.
