Hawaiian Airlines customer service has been nonexistent for weeks if not months judging by social media. Hopefully they've staffed back up by late 2021 (OP should make that clearer) or at least by 2022

Hopefully they have their rental car shortage fixed by then. Absolutely no rental car availability on Kauai for months.

I would stay away from Hawaii for the rest of the year. I spent a week in Oahu last month and everything is packed. The guest capacity restrictions are generally removed, but there's still other COVID restrictions and not all businesses have hired people back. What this translates to is lines, lines everywhere and unintentional overcrowding everywhere. I stayed at a Hilton and had to wait 25 minutes just to speak to someone to get towels brought up to my room. They need time to readjust and hire people back.

It already has. The locals have been bled dry, slaves to their mortgages- the younger generations aren't staying here to be the tourist attractions any longer.
Those expensive tourist prices are what the locals pay too. Kama'aina discounts LOL 10% off - what does that matter if the gallon of milk is $10?

Thats the difficulty living in a paradise. This week it was a 100 degrees real feel with humidity. 6 months ago, negative buried in a ft of snow. As the option to work remotely increases, I can see costs churning upward in more desirable living locations.
