The game itself is meant for fans of the series. If you haven't seen it, it probably won't hold your interest. That being said, it gets pretty repetitive quickly. That's not to say it won't be enjoyable for a while. For this price it might be worth it for you. To each his own.

Worth it, in anyone's opinion?

Great MMO style anime game. This game is the closest to feeling like the anime. You can put hundreds of hours into this game there is just so much to do especially with the endgame DLC.

For $7 it's hard to go wrong... but in my opinion, it's not much fun. It doesn't do a great job of guiding you, and after coming back to it 3 or 4 times, even when I was making progress, it didn't really feel like it. I'm coming from a place of playing just about every JRPG ever made, including the other Sword Art Online games. This one just doesn't feel competent. It checks boxes... fun characters, anime, cutscenes, fairly good engine, but I found myself frustrated and wandering around a whole lot. Some people may love it, and that's ok, to me it just felt like you had to put a fair amount of effort into it to have fun.
