I'm hoping to grab a 5900X from the AMD drop tomorrow morning. This cooler or Dark Rock? I know Noctua is a great performer but--God!--so fugly.

I've had water cooling for 5 years. Wouldn't use anything else.

You might need something beefier. I paid around this price for an EVGA 240mm AIO. If you don't want liquid cooler then the Dark Pro 4 might be better. I have the same processor and this chip runs HOTTTTT

I have a fractal design node 304 mini itx case from 7yrs ago lol.
It's going to run on the hot side, but hopefully some undervolting might help with that.

I would love the d15, but it won't fit in my current case :/

Ah darn. Since your case is smaller, I think proper airflow will be beneficial if you go with this or any air cooler.

Edit nevermind you can totally do it:

I got the EVGA 280mm liquid cooler for the same price about 3 weeks ago but it's a huge PITA. Unless you jump through hoops the radiator fan on that goes above 1200 RPM by default (EVGA's fan control software sucks) which means NOISE. Should have stuck with air cooling.

That looks amazing.

I need my hard drive bays though, which would get in the way of the first set of fans/fins. I plan to have a raid set up for my plex server.

I have to rethink this. Lol

I have this, AMA. It's huge. It performs as well as the 12S but slightly quieter.

Don't you have fan control through your mobo?

Cool I've had an air cooler running an i7 920 @4ghz for over a decade. A few years ago I redid the paste and fans. I have several modern pcs all on air coolers. All kept very cool and whisper quiet. Noctua makes an excellent product. No leaking or unreplaceable pumps dying. To each their own
