It includes a Chromecast Ultra which is worth at least $60 in my opinion

The controller itself and google stadia are kind of a neat concept but I don't use it often

I'm pretty sure you had to buy Cyberpunk for $60 to get the free Stadia controller and Chromecast Ultra. Not sure about the Youtube Premium offer.

I get it. I was one of those people that doubted Stadia. With the pandemic, it was really hard to get a new gpu. When the cyberpunk deal came out, I said screw it and ordered it from google. Absolutely blown away. Is it as good as a high end pc with recent gpu? No. But it's pretty damn good for streaming. Playing on chromecast ultra with controller on my tv which has the WiFi router next to it, and it's hard to tell it's not a native console.

It's Best Buy, so I would say Buy it, try it, return if not worth it. For me as an aging gamer dad with little time to make investing in PCs or consoles worth but just wants to play some AAA titles from time to time, this was perfect.

I'm aware of stadia's perception, and I hope it succeeds.

I figured the value of these would tank so I sold the one I got for free in November 2020 for $50 on eBay, but the Chromecast Ultra is $40 alone so value has steadily been $50 for a while. Never actually tried it though.

I read many reviews while I waited for my founder's edition to arrive and was extremely worried. Once I received my controller and chromecast, signed up, logged in and claimed my games, I realized there was nothing to worry about. I've had it since it first came out and have had nothing but a pleasant experience. Even now, after all this time there's still people almost dedicated to trying to bring it down. What's ironic is that Nvidia's GeForce Now and Microsoft's Xbox Xcloud gets unwarranted praise and to those that have tried them all know that Stadia is superior in every way when it comes to graphics and latency, the library is lacking but is expanding. I've used it on Chromebooks, tablets as inferior as the previous generation Kindle Fire 10, Chromecasts, gaming PCs, as well as my phone using Verizon LTE. It simply just works, every time and I don't have to keep logging in like I do on GeForce Now which is only a minor nuisance, but still. On top of that I get to share my Stadia library with family members through Google. All that said I still have Xbox's Ultimate subscription for another year, founding member of GeForce Now active subscription, and Amazon's Luna which is shit. I like GeForce Now and use at a little less than Stadia. I'd give it a second best when it comes to game streaming as it has a bigger library and gives me access to games on devices I normally wouldn't be able to access as well as integrating libraries from multiple platforms where I had already made purchases.

On a side note, I revisited many of the reviews and saw that many had issues using Stadia at the office due to certain networking protocols and when they used it at home, had no issues. Another main issue was not being able to read the minimum requirements that Stadia listed since before it's release which was a connection speed of at least 10 Mbps. One specific reviewer had to turn gaming mode on his TV on as it had extreme latency. Once he switched to game mode, it all got better. It amazes me that people are able to get into these positions where they supposedly have the knowledge and are to be trusted from a educated yet non-bias perspective but their readers unfortunately get the opposite.

Since I want to give you all of the facts that I'm aware of, there's an incredibly large number of people that had issues using certain controllers via bluetooth on certain games. Stadia says they are not responsible for this, the game developers are. I have a pretty decent library on Stadia and the only game I had an issue with was Division 2 but seeing as I had a plethora of controllers to choose from, I just switched. A pleasure a lot of people signing up for the trial don't have.

The games that we claim with Stadia Pro are fantastic family games. My 4yr old daughter loves playing Just Shapes and Beats, Pikuniku, SpongeBob, Avicii, Blue Fire, Figment, and many many more. Bauldar's Gate 3 is awesome, Mortal Kombat is great, and Cake Bash is great with the family.

I have very much enjoyed 4k games streaming (100mbps over wifi) without the $500 gaming hardware. My daughter can also play on her tablet while the wife and I watch TV. We eventually collected 4 controllers through the different promotions and purchased skins for them as well. The Stadia has been a fantastic purchase for the family and I don't see myself going back to console gaming anytime soon.

I can only assume that most of the critics who dump on Stadia have never actually tried it.

Also, shamelessly shilling my 'refer a friend code' here: Use my link for 2 free months of Stadia Pro, terms apply: https://stadia.com/link/Tolkor_BN6F5

When you play on your tablet, (or say a Galaxy phone) you can or cannot use the stadia controller? Say no TV or Chromecast is involved.

The controller connects to the wifi, with the help of your smart phone and the Stadia app. Then, you navigate to the controller section of the Stadia app on your tablet, and it shows a 4 button sequence, like "Up B Right A". That sequence will link the controller and tablet. Same process for linking the controller to the Chromecast on a TV.

You do not need a Chromecast to use the controller with a tablet or phone.

Stadia Pro is similar to Xbox LIVE Gold and PlayStation Plus.

Each month you get 2-3 games for 'free' as long as your are subscribed to the service ($9.99/month). Pro also offers extra discounts and the ability to play (aka stream) your games in 4k resolution. For non-subscribers that's limited to 1080p.
How do you play Stadia games as a non-subscriber? I thought the only way to play games is to be a member?

If you have Google play money to use, google has it for $10 more. I have $80 in there from surveys so for me it works out.

If you buy specific games then you can play them without being a subscriber. If you subscribe then you get access to some additional games as part of the subscription plus some additional streaming features like 4k vs HD.

At least that's my understanding. I don't subscribe but bought the Cyberpunk deal and got Crew2 for ~$3 and overall the experience has been great.

Form your own opinion. I'm not a shill and have no stake in Google or Stadia - I did convert from a skeptic to a fan though. Costs nothing to try so decide for yourself if it's spotty or laggy.

My only criticism is the game selection still needs time to grow.
Thanks for the honest reply, I'll try it out myself if possible and see if the online reviews are honest or up to date.

Which version of destiny 2 is it? I read there are many versions or expansions that keep coming out. I assume it's the original base game that's free to play with stadia without subscription?

Exactly, call me a casual but I don't want to build a PC or get a large console. Stadia just works
