Got two of these both came free "you tube premium and cyberpunk deals". If you need one its a pretty good deal but if you can wait I am sure google will give these away for free again. Imho this is the future of gaming, I can play my games on literally any device I have for free (no premium membership required). Only complaint is the visual quality on some titles is inferior due to image compression colors look dull I dont know if premium's colors look any better.

The future of gaming is not owning any games and not owning any hardware? How sad.

Pretty sure he just said that he cyberpunk. That's owning the game...maybe not physical but still owned by him.

Anyone know if you can load emulators on this to play older games like the original Nintendo, Sega Genesis, etc?

I would say not owning physical media. Hardware might be the same in the future, like stand alone consoles.

Example, CDs. How many people still but new CDs and have a dedicated CD player? You can stream on your phone, smart speakers, sound bars, etc.

4k Blu-Ray discs and players. Easier to stream them from your tv, laptop, phone, etc.

It includes a Chromecast Ultra which is worth at least $60 in my opinion

The controller itself and google stadia are kind of a neat concept but I don't use it often
Can you use the controller like a normal Bluetooth controller for anything or is it limited to stadia?

Google has consistently shown that they will shut down any service people have bought into with little to no warning or recourse. Only way I would consider Stadia if it was something that would work standalone, or if you could stream from your own configurable sources.

Hard pass.

you can literally buy a used PS4 or XB1 for less than $100 these days and still play any of the latest releases. and if you can afford fast enough internet to stream these games at a playable quality, you can afford those. so you're either making poor, uninformed decisions on gaming purchases or you're just another obvious Google Stadia shill.

My bet is the latter.
Sadly these prices are at least double what you posted, and will be probably for a solid year due to the chip shortages. Last time I checked my OG XB1 was $50, now it's 200+ easy.

But I can rip or download DRM free mp3s and mp4s and other files ,not so with stadia or other online gaming services
Once stadia fails(and it will fail sooner rather than later) and is no longer is supposed and no longer exists all your games and money will have go e down the drain and your sav's

Kids these days right. They'll never know the joy of going to the store to pick out a new game and the anticipation on the ride back home.

Or... Even simply unwrapping a new game and having the booklet to read. Popping it in and seeing the title screen come up for the first time. THAT was a great feeling as a kid.

"any service people have bought into with little to no warning or recourse"
This statement is a blatant lie. While they do cancel services that are unsuccessful quite frequently or merge them with other services there has always been transparency and a significant warning. In Stadia's terms it also states that if a game were to become unavailable either due to the service shutting down or contract that the purchase would be refunded, but excludes purchases made in game such as skins and currencies. While I do wish we had the option to play from our own hardware with a Stadia purchase, I seriously doubt that will happen.

Stadia's terms state that your purchases will be refunded if that were to happen, although it isn't applicable to in game purchases. You will however lose your saves, which doesn't matter to me because once I beat a game I either restart or never revisit it again.

Or blowing in the cartridge thinking it actually helped. Or going into eb and low key asking the clerk if any new demo discs arrived like it was a secret drug deal. Reading the strategy manual and trying to memorize the cheat codes so you don't have to buy it.

See you know what's up!

That's funny you mentioned EB. I was going to say something about that, but didn't think anyone would get it.

Every time I went to the local mall... To Electronics Boutique I'd go first.
