It isn't. At $350 you're not paying much more than the $300 Oly set at Dick's and you're getting coated plates and a far better bar. FYI there are commercial plates/dumbbells that cost $10/lb and bars that cost upwards of $1k.

Been waiting on this, but now I have to get another card (Sams is slightly better with 5% gas rebate so I don't have Costco card). Doubt it will get here in time...

Pretty small premium for the rubber coating (over iron). I was thinking these were full bumper plates, which would be truly slick.

No, those are standard sand weights (vs Olympic rubber-coated metal plates) and a standard bar that probably has ~300-lb capacity (vs an Oly bar with a 700-lb capacity). Also, it looks like that price is just for the rack.

Decide what type of lifting you're going to be doing and go from there. That will largely determine what type of plates you should be looking at.

Got these last time this deal was posted. I use the weights almost everyday and they are definitely worth the money. Also, the shipment packaging was ridiculous; it was the best packed item that I've ever received. Received the cash card promptly as well (about 3 weeks after purchase).

Btw, use the $50 off $500 coupon to sweeten the deal. You may have to add a filler to hit $500.
