Great price for a decent instant read thermometer. Who needs to spend 8X times more for a Thermapen.......

For how often I use it, this is the right price for me.

Just in time for summer. Looks like decent reviews I'll give it a try.

I'm in the market for one of these. When you say decent, is that in regards to accuracy or durability of the unit? I just want something accurate, or close to it.

Neverminded. I'm going to sit this one out after reading some of the reviews

It reads fast enough and is accurate enough for my needs. Durability is not a concern for me at this price, but have had no issues.

I've owned multiple ThermoPro products and they are not good. Slow to a degree that is not acceptable for an "instant" read product, at the least. Wait for a deal on a Lavatools Javelin Pro if you want a budget-friendly instant read thermometer. They get down to $35-$40. I've bought two, one for me and one for my Dad. My father-in-law and uncle were so impressed they bought their own.

Thanks. I'll keep an eye on that one. The thermostat for my smoker is more urgent for me and I am not as much of a rush to get an Instant read like the one in this OP.

I bought an Inkbird wireless one which arrived yesterday and it was DOA, so my foray in to meat smoking is not off to a good start lol. Planned on using it Sunday with my new smoker.

This might be a stretch, but has anyone ever seen a Keychain version of a meat thermometer? You just never know when you're gonna need one and not have it readily accessible... ya know?

I bought this Masterbuilt, but have only seasoned it and not used it for smoking food yet.

Nice, congratulations on the acquisition. I suggest starting with chicken. Whether it's a whole one, or just pieces and parts, it's cheap and easy, and always tasty when smoked lol.

I've got a Pit Boss Austin XL, and I'll just throw thighs on there for 2.5 to 3 hours on the lowest setting.

I love the "set it and forget it" mentality, except for when I've "actually forgotten" it lol!

I have that exact model too. Depends on what you're smoking how much you need a thermometer. If you're starting out with a pork shoulder, which is pretty common, it's pretty hard to screw up. There's so much fat and since you'll want those connective tissues to break down, that you'll be more challenged with not leaving it long enough vs. too long.

these things break at the base of the needle. I bought one and it happened to me

look at the reviews

i don't recommend these

maybe if you put krazy glue or something on the base it will keep it from cracking up from the pressure
