I think the square footage is off and they are counting outdoor spaces and pools in their numbers.

Also, this is just the accommodations. You would still be on the hook for airfare, activities, and food (which I have heard prices are insane). This looks to me like a teaser entry to an escalator... a vacation easily totalling $12,000 or more.

Good deal, but adding 1200 for two of us for water airplane transfer, plus 1600 ($800 per person) was cheapest decent flight i could find to Male, comes out to $7500 just to get there.
Yeah that's a lot. I wonder if anyone found a way to do this trip using airline and hotel rewards points at a better value and if that's even possible.

Can't speak for others but Marriott reward points works well for the St Regis and other resorts including the new Ritz Carlton resort, but remember transfers from the airport to the resort is $900 for 2 people, plus airfare etc...

Maldives is expensive, I've been there twice, going back at the end of Sept.

Again if your looking to go to one of these nice resorts thinking your can do it on a budget, just remember it's like going to a 5 star steak house restaurant and ordering a Mcdonalds happy meal

Unless you love being crammed in a airplane for about an long as your actual stay at the resort.... I think the maldives are a great vacation spot for that side of the world, but there are many other comparables within a few hour flight from the USA.
Virgin islands, Turks & c, Bahamas can be hit and miss, but there are some amazing areas there etc.
The only thing I don't think is close are those glass bottom over the water villas.... Does anyone know the closest one?
Bora Bora would the most comparable and closer. But the flight is still long but not as long as the Maldives. When you stay at these places that are that close to the equator the water is simply like bath water temperatures.

Looks like you can get round trip airfare for 80k AA points. That's a start.

If your a drinker, I wouldn't do one of these deals without having alcohol included. I've seen some hotels a beer is anywhere between $15 and $20.
It's higher.. 15$ your talking abt price of a snickers bar

If you're not going to use this for another year or more, then you're better off investing the money in some crypto and then looking for good deals closer to the time of travel.

And besides all of the work you'd have to go thru to even play their game and get your foot in the door from the teaser... it's only 5 nights, people!! As in... less than one week, and at LEAST 3 additional weeks short of what I'D personally need to make it worth MY while!! 🌴🐠🍹🦩🏝
Hell, with 5 nights... I'd just have figured out where the ice is kept, and have just re-found my flip flops again under the bed to take a moonlit walk!! 😂🤣
Please DO post of you schedule a reservation!! 👌

If you want Bora Bora without the expense I can't more highly recommend flying to The Cook Islands into Rarotonga and taking at a least a day or 2 to Aitutaki to the north which is just a short 35 minute hop on Air Rarotonga.

I flew this on a nonstop LAX to Rarotonga SD on Air New Zealand before COVID hit for under $500 RT. Food isn't nearly as expensive as Bora Bora and the people are awesome as they are half New Zealanders and many are from relationships with American GIs who came to the islands in the 1940s and built an airbase. Very safe and laid back place.

Aitutaki is amazing, do some Google searches. If you really were set to hit Bora Bora it's only 500 miles from the Cook Islands.

Advice: get dive certified before going (probably PADI). If you can't atleast do the online portion and test and complete the water portion there.

I would second getting certified at home.. I would even do checkout dives at home and make sure you feel 100% ready. I am partial to NAUI and SSI over PADI but I always suggest learning at home over resort classes. Every diver I have met that was bent on a boat was a Resort PADI diver.

Jamaica, Cancun, Belize, lots of spots in the Carribean are building high end resorts now. Probably still just as pricey as the ones in Maldives or Bora Bora but... much shorter travel, no jet lag for east coasters, and for the most part they arent as far in the middle of nowhere as to leave you nothing to do but pay the one resort's exorbitant fees for all your dining and activities. You can find a ton of travel mags with reviews of these spots:

I have been all over the Caribbean. You can't compared Bora Bora or the Maldives with those places. LOL. Don't take me wrong, the Caribbean is nice and all. But this is in a different category.

yeah seriously, obviously nothing matters THAT much if you are wasted on a beach but there is no comparison
