Please don't flame an old geezer/fart like me... (actually, flame away... if anyone wishes to educate an old man about computers)

but how does this $580 Dell compare to the current Apple Mac Mini M1 8gb on sale for $599 at Costco and Amazon?

Thanks!

This PC is really meant for gaming purposes. It has a dedicated GPU, whereas the Mini M1 is more fit for productivity purposes. If you're not looking to game graphically intensive triple A games, don't consider the Dell PC. The M1 Mini is much faster to use for browsing the internet or watching videos online.

This is more of a starter gaming PC while the Mac Mini would probably be better for (in your words) old geezer like yourself. My mother owns a Mac Mini and it seems to suit her just fine. If you plan on gaming in the future to connect with some of these young whipper snappers, maybe go for the Dell.

Got one and it arrives 6/25, these others are hating but if you pair it with the Amex offer you can get it for 460 without tax. The class action is for an alienware laptop. Most of these mass produced computers are going to use cheaper parts, but I'm sure as long as you're in a cool room and not doing anything too intensive it'll be fine.

The xps deals are better at 630-650. Better graphics card and on-chip graphics. So you can sell the graphics card for 500-fees and have a cheap desktop for productivity uses.

Agree. Will pass on this one and wait for the next xps deal.

With a discreet graphics card, the dell can do everything the apple can do, but the apple can't do everything the dell can do. Good graphics cards will allow your PC to power the latest and future display technologies.
