The box is 63" wide(looking from the front) by 38" tall when standing flat on the ground. It's 8 1/2" thick when looking at it from the front. So it is NOT a small box.
If it came down to it I was debating taking the panel, stand/feet, remote and paperwork out of the box and leaving the box and foaming packing wedges there in the parking lot.

The ONLY times that Walmart or any retailers pull and/or return stock to vendors/distributors is 1) if they've reached "penny out" status as sometimes they receive credits from the vendors towards new products OR 2) in the event of a nationwide recall due to the product(s) being defective.
If anything I'm inclined to think that the employee(s) were bullshitting you. They were probably just tired of people coming in asking for items they probably sold out of a while ago, especially if some of them are as rude as the local employees have told me some of those "deal hunters" are.
It didn't work as they processed it as an "exchange". So the only thing I ended up doing was paying $13 more out of pocket.
As it is I was 4 days shy of 30 days since buying it, so I was almost out of the return period.

Any idea of what exactly to ask? There is also another store like an hour away which has Limited Stock as well. Wondering whether it makes sense to go and check..

At this point a LIMITED on Brickseek may be a display model, which they may or may not want to sell. Two stores by me have one.

Though I never found any larger electronics items there some stores might actually put them in the dedicated clearance area, which in most of my local stores is close to the garden center. That's another place to check.
In your case they could have been in the back, at which point getting a manager involved would be the only way to get a satisfactory result if the regular employees told you they had none.
Although at this point the stores showing LIMITED may well be display models, which according to two stores in my area (Wilkes-Barre and Pittston, PA) with them on display are actually property of Samsung and that they cannot sell.
