VA will have a higher contrast ratio and better black levels. IPS will better maintain color saturation when viewed at an angle. The curve helps with off-angle viewing, so I'd actually say go with VA to reap the contrast benefit.

I got the U3419W for $500 2 years ago - how is this different from that model
U is their top of the line ultrasharp series with 99% RGB covered. Calibrated out of the factory. I got U2415H for photo editing and as main work monitor. It's been great, but I need something bigger now. $500 is amazing price

I have the S3221QS VA display which has excellent 4ms response times, sharp text and vibrant colors. I had the 34" Acer from Costco which was not even in the same class overall. Also, if the sound quality in this 34 is as good as the S33221, you will be pleasantly surprised.
You need to mention that the Acer is 2k and the dell is 4k. 4k will always have better resolution

Exactly. Curved isn't viewed "as necessary" on an IPS panel (even on a 34" WQHD due to viewing angles.) A curved 34" IPS is going to run a LOT more than sub-$400. Throw in 100mhz refresh rates and you're talking double this for a "good deal."

If you're looking for a 34" WQHD gaming monitor, VA is most likely the way to go. This Dell seems like a good gaming-first panel that could do well for productivity.

If you really want IPS, you're probably wanting it for productivity first and maybe light FPS gaming.

Man, this is super tempting. With returning to office next month I can't justify it, but seems like a great option for others.

This is not a 4K screen. 3440 x 1440 is not 4K.
