I already knew some hobunk comments were gonna be made before anything. News coverage was waaaay over before covid. Stop it with the fake crap. Drinks and DR safe in terms of the drinks. There are other reasons to not go than that. for $60/day what would you really expect. in that sense it's an okay deal, but read recent reviews... although ranked 4 out of 29 hotels in puerto plata, the quality of this resort has gone down a lot per most recent reviews

DR is a great place to visit. I've been twice including one time to Santa Domino and found a reputable guy with a ton of reviews on a SD travel blog that took us from Santa Domingo all the way around the coast to Punta Cana by a nice car. Got to see a ton of The real DR along the way. Once he picked us up he stopped by the gas station and bought some glass El Presedentes for our 3 hour ride. It was like an awesome road trip. We did this adventure because the flights direct to Punta Cana were too expensive at that time.

$58 all inclusive for 2 is a crazy low price.

There are areas which are patrolled by security people with shotguns and the gas station attendants sit at the pumps with shotguns to avoid being robbed. The tourist areas are way safe though. I found Jamaica way more dangerous than the DR.

Was just in the DR in April, third visit (Iberostar) this time - great time, looking forward to next visit in a year or two.

This sounded great until I read the reviews. People on TripAdvisor mention it's close to a garbage dump and they burn garbage at the end of the night.

My parents vacationed at this resort ten years ago for $47/night all inclusive and were expecting it to be shitty due to the price but were shocked at how good everything was from the hotel itself to the food and drinks. They enjoyed it more than their stay at a higher rated hotel in Punta Cana. I don't know how much things have changed since then, but I remember there being mixed reviews back then on this place as well, so I wouldn't worry too much unless things have really gone down hill since then.

It's not a bad deal but it's not the ritz. Be careful at the buffets. Some in my party got quite sick. Location is awesome. Go in to town with organized groups or a knowledgeable taxi driver that will wait for you. AC was spotty a few years ago (in the rooms)

Went to DR a few years ago. Entire group had possessions stolen from us at the airport and we all got sick at the resort. Not going back. Mexico is 10 times better than DR.

Iberostar at Puerto Plata was such a trashy place for a "5 star" resort.
