Makita Authorized Seller (verified by going through Makita's website).
Normally $500. Marked down to $399, with a $25 off coupon code (MFD2021) = $376, plus 2 bonus 4.0ah batteries, for 4 batteries total. Could sell some of the batteries to bring this down significantly further.
- Push mower (not self propelled)
- 18" Though Makita is 'honest' - the actual blade is 18". My current Greenworks corded model says 21", but they're quoting the deck size, when the blade is really 20".
- Also available at Home Depot & Amazon for $399.
- Reviews seem to indicate:
- Weakest points:
- Mulching (fine for me as I bag).
- Front wheels are further in than the back wheels - makes edge-work harder
- Strongest points:
- Excellent build quality
- Low noise level (even compared to other battery-mowers)
- Brushless motor (unlike the less-expensive Ego mowers, surprisingly.)
- Batteries - relatively inexpensive, known good quality, and plentiful / will continue to be plentiful. Run time seems surprisingly good as well.
- For those like me: Invested in Makita, with a not-huge lawn:
- This seems great. I can sell the extra batteries to bring this down to near a Ryobi-lawnmower-at-discount price, and avoid super expensive (and one-off) battery purchases in the future.
- If invested in Makita, and have a large lawn:
- I'd consider the 'commercial 'version - 21" blade, self-propelled - and also on special right now @ various retailers for $699, w/ 2 bonus 5ah batteries. XML08PT1. This one is good at mulching. It's also extremely heavy.
- If not invested in Makita / don't plan to be:
- I probably wouldn't get this. I'd consider the options that fit my current batteries, or just go E G O.

Also HD has same pricing, without the $25 checkout discount. Might be worth the extra money for ease of returns and service, but $25 is $25.

A 200Wh battery got me about 20-25 minutes of runtime when new, on a kobalt 80v 21-inch machine with self-propel off. A little under the manufacturer rating. About 500Wh of energy use per hour.
That equates to around 40-45 continuous runtime minutes if you use all four of these Makita batteries. MAYBE an hour with the smaller blade diameter, but that shouldn't change much once it's spinning, slicing off only 1-2 inches of dry grasses.

Though, some manufactures quote deck size instead of blade size. ie my current corded Greenworks is 21", but actually has a 20" blade.
