I have this tablet for a kid and it is (in my personal opinion) the bare minimum processing power and RAM that my financial situation allows me.
Although customized with the heavy Samsung skin we all come to love or hate, it's speedy enough that I have had no freezing and only occasionally lagging while switching apps or launching something from a cold boot. It fully integrates with Google Parental Control (I ignored their kids mode because I don't like it), it allows me to control content, apps, monitor time usage, etc.
One more thing I forgot to add about Samsung's software, I paired Bluetooth headphones for my kid and was exceptionally delighted to find you can set max volume and lock it with a pin code. Thumbs up Samsung!
The screen is LCD but does not look milky at all and has acceptable black levels, speaker is fine and gets loud enough without distortion that we have to ask kids to lower the volume LOL.
The tablet is great, we lost the pen in no time even when I was watching its whereabouts as a hawk, I left the responsibility to my wife for a day and they lost it. While we had the pen, we did some sketches and it was awesome, it really is a good starting tablet for kids.
This here is a great, great summary, thank you.
I have to also make emphasis that I brought the financial situation because it is absolutely a game changer for everyone. A person in my extended family says that an iPad ($400dlls) is the bare minimum and that he would never buy Android because all he had contact with is Fire tablets, and let's face the cold truth, Android tablets just recently became good at reasonable prices.
The Fire tablets did way more damage than good to the Android ecosystem, since it is one of the most known tablets, a lot of people out there thinks about iPads as "good" and Android tablets as "trash". You can thank Amazon for that, bloating every device with crap software and no immediate access to the Google Play store.
When they say bare minimum, I believe they're implying its the bare minimum speed/useability wise to be a really useful device that is never inconvenient to use. I've owned a Samsung tab s6, Fire 8, and Fire 10 before, and the fire ones aren't really snappy at all. Also the fire tablets are just harder to use compared to Samsung's android OS since it's always wanting to throw ads and submenus at you. The Fire Tablets are good values when you get them on sales, since a sub $100 tablet that works okay for Netflix and reading is a solid deal. But if you try and use your tablet in the same way most people use their phone or computer (web browsing, watching media, smart home apps, gps, random small games, sending emails, parental controls, bright enough to use outside, casual drawing, etc), this really isn't very much of a comparison.
Not to shame anyone who uses a Fire Tablet, it's just a completely different market and use case. A kid could be happy with either, it just personally depends on the parent and what they want the tablet used for with their child, or if they wanna share it with them. I love my Tab S6 (not lite) very much as an adult lmao, and I don't think 90% of people will need something more sophisticated than that or even an S6 Lite, which still runs reasonably well for pretty much every common person task

Debating if its worth the $56 to get the 128gb. Even though it do support an 1 GB Micro SD with the 64gb. From experience on the Samsung 7 phone I had with 64 gb with Micro SD, the 64gb do use up quick where I constantly have to cleanup apps/cache/data.
Anyone know if the Samsung tablets utilize the memory similar to the phone? The last Samsung tablet I had was the Galaxy Note with Stylus (1st Gen).
Also looking to trade my 1st gen Ipad air for an $80 trade-in value.

You can get a 256 gb micro SD for $26 and 512gb for about $60. It's up to you to determine value but I went with the 64gb version and bought the 256 card.
On my s9 phone that I've had for about 3 years and have done no cleanup, I've used 61.5gb of 64gb and 20gb out of 120gb SD card.
How far do you have to go when cancelling to get the 10% discount? I'm afraid if I press the cancel item button that it will actually cancel the order if there's no discount.
It should give you the message as soon as you hit cancel purchase button it should ask if you really want to cancel and if you don't then you get 10% off to not cancel it.

I see. I tried it a few times shortly after I ordered it and it didn't offer me anything then the cancel button went away I guess because it starting shipping. Thanks for the info!

I would agree with you if they didn't just sell the Tab S7 for about this price if you sold the earbuds.
And unless you really need the parent controls (which probably is a really smart idea), I recommend the Fire HD 10 for kids (SAVE MONEY). This is what I did for my 8 yr old. And the fire HD10 does everything is a speedy way and I feel it is the he bare minimum processing power and RAM you need for a kid. And if you sell a old tablet to AMazon and get that 20% off coupon... when on sale your price could be $60ish.
I decided to buy this! Lowest price I've seen it in awhile. Still sad I missed out on that crazy S7 deals a few months ago. Replacement pens are only $25 too with education discount. I've been trying to decide between an iPad/Apple Pencil and this for note taking, but this is much cheaper and I like the S-pen on my Note, so I think I will like taking notes with this.
$399 with a set of their pro buds (retails for $199) and there was a 15% cash back site that many people used. People stated that they sold their buds for about $140ish. And for $30 more you were able to get (this is what I got) the 256GB with 8GB of RAM (the 128GB had 6GB of RAM).
And for $100 more you were able to get the Tab S7+ (12.4" screen).
I have my new Tab S7 and it is that good!! Clearly the deal to get.
s5e is twice the cost. why would you compare the posted deal to something that costs 2x the deal?
Exactly. Seems like every thread has to have someone post wanting you spend alot more and often for something not everyone even wants or needs. The S6 Lite is a great tablet particularly at this cost and with the Spen, screen is very good I don't care how the specs are made to look bad. The speed has been very good streaming and videos play flawlessly. You want a great screen then you want to spend much more.
This price is near the lowest I have seen when I bought mine. ($219) Lie someone else posted I am done with Amazon Tablets the two I had slowed down after a short time maybe because I side loaded Playstore. But without Playstore too many apps I use are not available.

Mainly using this for watching movies during flights so can't really justify the S7 price
