Right, but you have to be able to make it into a physical Microcenter which many of us cant.

I bought a 16gb M1 mini at Microcenter yesterday for $779, which is less than education pricing also. Their prices are unbeatable.

New? Open Box? I live near a Microcenter but can't figure out how this works. How can they do this?

Brand new. Microcenter was the first Apple retailer in the 80's so they have a close relationship with Apple. I've bought half my Mac's and iPads from them because their prices are unbeatable.

But what was the deal? Was it a sale? Assuming that price was not on their website... Is the only way to know if you can get that price to go to the store and check?

Make sure that make sure that 256GB is enough storage for yourself. These do go up to 2TB.

It is on their website, and shows you how many they have in stock (hopefully, accurate), and you can reserve one for in-store pick-up if a store near you has that option.

A really affordable alternative option would be to buy a Samsung T5 SSD. Really tiny USB-C drive that is fast enough to edit video off of. Love this drive. The terabyte is around $130-150.

Was able to snag an open box for $944. Looks new. No marks. Then called Apple and was able to get them to change the start date of the warranty. Microcenter doesn't indicate on the receipt that it's open box. Just that it's clearance.

I recently returned my pro model for an air and see absolutely no difference in performance for my normal use case. One thing I did notice was that the keyboards is tighter on the air for some reason and the edges don't dig as deep since it has a slimmer profile.
